I mean, I used to enjoy those things, back when we had them. We need to get all of this back and more. My father worked for 50 years and then got laid off before he could retire. And sadly, nobody hires anyone over the age of 65. He did everything right and the system still screwed him.

That is sad, and I'm sorry it happened to your dad. It would have happened to my husband already if he wasn't in a union. He would be one of the last to get laid off because he has seniority. Workers need protection from corporations trying to please their shareholders.

Yeah, sadly, my dad‘s workplace was really good at instilling an anti-union attitude amongst the workers. They also hated OSHA. My dad was friends with the owners but at the beginning of the pandemic, they sold the company and didn’t so much as even say goodbye.

That is terrible and unfortunately very common. An acquaintance of mine got let go from his job, and he ended up retiring early. Now, they are scrambling to make ends meet until he can collect his SS. It shouldn't be this way. You think if you work hard and keep your head down, you will be alright.
