I'm looking at all the people who want or expect Rep. Jeffries to be in the streets taking an ass whooping for America while they sit comfortably at home watching the show on TV. The fact that we're not seeing daily, continuous protests from the majority of America tells me they aren't worried.
They also don't seem to be too concerned about the @#$% Trump is actually doing to make the world fascist. They post MORE about Hakeem Jeffries not doing...the thing...you know, the thing...whatever that is at the moment.

The difference between me and Hakeem Jeffries is that I wasn't elected to a position of power and authority with the expectation that I'd use that position to fight for and defend my constituents if necessary. This is literally supposed to be his job.
Rep. Jeffries was elected to Congress, not the NAACP or National Action Network. He's doing his job. It's not his job nor any member of Congress, to be in the streets leading any kind of rebellion. Looking to Congress for protest leaders is like asking the band director to coach football.
Sure, the band director is at every game and likely has good knowledge of the game. He doesn't know the strengths and weaknesses of the individual players or how to exploit the weaknesses of the opponent. Protests need leaders who are keenly aware of organizing and running protests.

That's a bad read. Fear didn't stop my parents or others protesting for their basic civil rights in the 60s. My dad has a permanent scar from being cattle prodded. He was one of the kids in the streets of Birmingham going against Bull Conner. The folks who need to be in the streets have never had to
be in the streets before. Everything as always been handed to them or worked out in their favor. We don't see Black America in the streets because we know this shit will explode in violence if we do. We've been here before, and we know all the signs. We even tried warning everyone ahead of time.

The ease at which they slip into racism isn't surprising at all. I've lived all my life in Alabama and Georgia. I know that all white people are not racist. The way some walk in racist actions, oblivious to what they're doing, never amazes me. I almost expect it now.

Well, we certainly aren't seeing it from our leaders... And the vast majority of us are one paycheck away from being homeless. So nobody's sitting comfortably.
LA residents didn't need Rep. Jeffries or permission from him to oppose ICE. DC residents didn't wait for members of Congress to come and lead protests either. If you're expecting protest leadership to rise from politicians, I have bad news for you.
Protests begin in the community from community activists. Members of Congress are elected to legislate. They also have limited avenues to pursue court cases. Take it from a community with significant history of fighting tyrannical government. You're looking for fighting leaders in the wrong place.
