USCG isn't under DoD and hasn't been for a long time. They've been getting fucked out of tricare since they got moved under DHS. They're essentially sister agencies under the same departmental umbrella. That's how.

As a former military spouse, base housing is often located off base. It is housing owned by the military. It’s easier to have it off base to make the base safer. Also visitors are not allowed on base without a special pass. Families often have civilian visitors.

Well, my maga nephew thinks his wife is safe because he is in the military (coast guard). She did get a green card, but I think that doesn't mean much these days.

I know it's harsh, and sometimes people have hope a family member can be turned around, but at some point the family member has to be told fascists are not welcome in your home.
It's a nice thought and one I've entertained a lot, but in reality, not everyone has the privilege of a support network or life in an area where they can cut off family, friends, coworkers, or other members of their community over political or other value differences (including MAGAts).

None of the Christians in my family are Republicans. The country is full of atheists thrown away by their families (including by progressives) because they are not Christian.

My sister is a deacon in the Metropolitan Community Church. As far as I'm aware, they are the most "progressive" of Christian churches. She disowned me long ago.
As an atheist, it's not my job to determine who's a Christian and who's not. If they say they are, I believe them. Christian acting like fascists have existed as long as there have been Christians. There has never been a concerted movement to oust them; as far as I can see they are fine with them.
My son and I can't be around maga family. We have completely cut them off because we can not emotionally handle what they stand for. I hope my husband understands because this includes his parents. It is a really hard time. I have been completely broken lately.

What I didn’t have though was- consistent availability of feminine hygiene products, hot water 365 days a year, enough school supplies throughout the entirety of the school year, money for field trips, food in the house all the time, childhood staples like birthday parties and sleepovers
