Having worked in a skilled nursing facility I can say honestly & unequivocally that most people are not capable of caring for anyone with severe memory issues. It is a 24 hour job & if you don’t have the proper training & experience it would be difficult. They’ll get over it is an awful thing to say
I had to care for my mom when she was dying and it wrecked my physical and mental health to the point where I was contemplating killing myself. No, no we will not just GET OVER IT McConnell.
Caring for a loved one is difficult. It does wreck you physically and mentally. We caregivers learn a lot about life and ourselves in the process. I feel your pain. I helped my mother for years until I couldn’t. Mitch is rich. He doesn’t have to worry about a thing.
Worst part was my mom's health care that she DID have was through my dad's job and his cheapskate boss gave us the smallest health package possible to save money, so I ran into hurdles every time I tried to make it a little easier on my mom. I had to take her around in a cab because I don't drive.
Oh geez. That’s awful. Well I had almost forgotten about all the trips to the ER, the long drives to doctors, and the calls in the middle of the night. Between work and helping my mom and taking care of my family I didn’t have much me time. But I do miss her. I got her to 88 so I think I did okay.

I finally called my uncle and was like, 'I can't do this anymore, I need help' because we were extremely close to getting kicked out.
I literally quit my job to care for mom while dad worked. He took care of her at night. I was trying to help save the family farm. It totally wrecked me, but we only lost half the farm because Medicaid didn’t cover it all. If dad needs long term care, we’ll lose the rest of the farm.
It is one of the most difficult things that families have to do. The choices. The sacrifices. I totally understand. I took care of my mother for years until I couldn’t. It’s heartbreaking. 💔

My father had Alzheimer’s. My mother wanted to care for him @ home & she did for as long as she could but, as some pts do, he eventually became physically aggressive. That’s when we had to make the incredibly hard decision to place him in a care facility.S̅ Medicare we couldn’t have afforded to do so
I felt terrible. It felt like we were pawning off our responsibilities to someone else. My mother decided to volunteer at the facility we placed him in so she could spend time with him. Those last yrs hurt but I cannot imagine how bad they could have been if we didn’t have the option to get him help
Yeah, when, undoubtedly, the wife has to quit her job to take care of grandma, but now they can't afford food or their mortgage, so now the whole family is out on the street WITH grandma... This is going to go super well, and I am sure they will #GetOverIt.
