They didn't even explain why they agreed to withhold his name?!
They didn't even explain why they agreed to withhold his name?!
I seem to remember the NYT declining to publish the Trump campaign’s dossier on JD Vance, because it allegedly came from Iran and wasn’t “newsworthy.” Yet THIS is acceptable?
Funniest part of this story is that it doesn't really justify itself as news. There's really no nut graf or takeaway here. "He checked this box!!" Ok... True
yeah and trump uses way too much bronzer. old people who cope with being old by using makeup instead of working out and eating good are losers
not related but as relevant as the "news"
He checked boxes… that we should have expected him to check! What is controversial?
One of the "journalists", Benjamin Ryan, graduated from Columbia and couldn't pass up an opportunity like this to slam someone he sees as an inferior.
Turns out one of the others, Dana Rubinstein, also attended Columbia and wanted to feel superior.
And the third, Nicholas Fandos, went to Harvard. And here's what you find in Wikipedia for him: "NYU Media Studies professor Daniel Gilmore has noted and documented that Fandos has a history of reporting stories framed with a pro-Republican bias."
Dana and Nicholas also once worked for Politico. She was a senior reporter.
some gems from the groupchat for yall: 🚨🚨 BREAKING: ZOHRAN MAMDANI IDENTIFIED USING THE CATEGORICAL DESCRIPTORS AVAILABLE AND LEGIBLE WITHIN THE UNITED STATES 🚨🚨 NYT list the names and parents’ addresses of everyone currently working at the NYT who was rejected from Columbia J school go
Wow -- The Guardian has already reported this guy's name. "the account is apparently run by Jordan Lasker, a long-time proponent of eugenics... boosted or engaged with dozens of times by Elon Musk, often on the topic of falling birthrates." bsky.app/profile/eyes...
🤮
@benryanwriter.bsky.social Didn't waste much time getting this up on your personal website! Perhaps you could throw a cite out to the Guardian reporter who has named your very secret source in a March 2025 article?
This guy has always been a premier piece of shit. One of Jesse Singal’s strongest soldiers.
Benjamin Ryan is also a notoriously transphobic hack. He is vile.
This is such fucking bullshit but the funny part is that it undermines what the hacker is trying to prove: Mamdani was not accepted at Columbia DESPITE his father being a professor there! ZERO preferential treatment based on race or on his personal connections.
Relying on racists for a gotcha article on an irrelevant detail is the kind of low agenda I'd expect from a right-wing mouthpiece.
One of the only times I’ll ever say that I wish this wasn’t quite like this. Just this once did like to add to the ratio here
Same.
rookie numbers, etc.
My brother in Christ, the man was born in Africa. @nytimes.com @benryanwriter.bsky.social please take your heads out of your asses.
LOL. Of course it was Ben Ryan.
I wonder how close Ben's relationship is with Lasker?
Lollloooo, i have that guy blocked bc of a “transphobe” label. So perfect. He’s not going to respond. lol bc his bio says something something ethics handbook LMAOOOOOOOO
His own info is also presumably in the leak as he went to Columbia, which feels useful to disclose? (Not the main issue by a longshot!)
That fool really put Columbia grad in his bio... wow
I mean, imagine being proud of this shit!
What a hack he is.
Ah, of course it's this person. Always on the side of transphobia, now on the side of Capital.
Same guy has also been doing “leaked audio from an event reveals trans man upset as transphobic newspaper” about Chase Strangio. Seems like he’s just really eager to turn things into scandals that ain’t.
His monkeypox reporting was similar. While more should've been done, quicker, to help the msm community fight that outbreak, Ben kept screaming in the papers, as if it was a scandal, that the cdc shouldn't say it could infect anyone - they should say it's only infecting msm, downplay all else!
Mpox, of course, can infect anyone. Diagnoses among non-msm were missed or delayed because of not testing potential cases...
Ah. Sounds like GRID, uh I mean AIDS, all over again.
Except in this bizarro example, Ben is in fact a gay man and took great offense that this outbreak wasn't treated as exclusively gay enough; something something the officials are worrying TOO MUCH about stigma something something. Twas wild.
about*
I'm sad to report that he is already blocked, so I cannot block him again.
👍🏾👍👍🏽👍🏼👍🏻👍🏿
Absolutely stunning to be proud of giving air time to a eugenesist in the midst of all this.
"Guys, look! I've written a non-story based on a race scientist's Substack!"
Dear lord I don't know why I'm always surprised, but NYT keeps finding new ways of betrayal.
this is superb.
this is fucking perfect
“Writes about IQ and race”—holy lie by omission Batman! And this guy argues that white people are naturally superior and cites higher IQs as his evidence. Pretty relevant to a story about a guy who is probably a Muslim hater. Imagine they interviewed a Nazi to undermine a Jewish candidate!
*not interviewed, used as the main source
"Writes often about IQ and race"... Man, if I didn't already know this guy was a Nazi, it'd have been pretty obvious from that statement.
"writes often about IQ and race" is a fucking wild way to report on a eugenicist and white supremacist
But he does it academically so it's ok. 🫠
shit I thought it was just the normal amount of disgraceful racist drivel from NYT this shit is bananas 😂 what the fuck is happening to rich people’s brains is the fear setting in?
woof academic doing a lot of work in that sentence.
Oh, you know the ones
“Writes often” that gets to the heart of the issue.
Recommend this video for anyone wishing to learn more about these types of people and what they believe- youtu.be/UBc7qBS1Ujo?...
"Academic" Like, i know not all academics are good at their job, many are objectively bad ppl by any measure with a basic definition of badness, but i think we're stretching the category to include some dude with a social media account
to put the whole thing into a simple perspective, one just has to consider the manners in which some individuals like ben ryan depict themselves, even if they lack current credentials or are hopelessly biased beyond any shred of subjectivity "Journalist"
Jordan Lasker is a PhD candidate at Texas Tech University, almost certainly in the Dept. of Cognition & Cognitive Neuroscience. He's a co-author on some peer-reviewed papers, which are normal psychometric stuff. He's only started being open about his eugenics shit recently.
Absolutely out of control ridiculousness. Who did the due diligence on this article? ChatGPT?
I’d like to say something. I had Lander as my first choice. The way the NYT/MSNBC has treated him (along with the predictable Nancy mace types) has absolutely black pilled me (or whatever the equivalent is. Zohran pilled?). These people cannot be rewarded with this shit.
I've got him blocked under a list of bigots. It checks.
Me too
Better still, respecting the eugenicist's desire to keep his actual name out of the paper (even though it's well-established that he's Jordan Lasker, who studies eugenics at Texas Tech University).
Seems that he really enjoys his rage baiting.
It fits the “paper”’s white umbrage perspective. 🤦🏿♂️
Benjamin Ryan “journalist” 🙄🙄🙄
He blocked me on Twitter awhile ago because I wouldn't refer to him as a journalist, but rather as an activist. Lol
www.polemics.md/unmasking-cr...
scholar.google.com/citations?hl...
And here I thought Ben Ryan was simply a transphobe. But it looks like he might be a real renaissance man of bigotry!
Top end pile of human filth
He is a pestilence
He's a remarkable piece of shit.
We few, we fortunate few.
All of them Katie.
He ought to be on a block list for jobs in journalism.
Tell me again how the New York Times is not an objectively pro-fascist media outlet.
They are active threats and we must treat em as such
Since the 30s
They have been since Mussolini.
I'm shocked, shocked to find natalism going on here
📌
Jesus the NYT is so fucking cooked
Oh, and it's very likely he posted on Reddit under the username "Tr*nnyPorn0" (my asterisk). www.polemics.md/unmasking-cr...
Amongst all their other idiocies about eugenics and “race science,” these racist creeps are also panting to have sex with young girls.
Classic. Virtually guarantee you he's a fucking lolicon (anime kiddie porn addict).
Great. Another word I didn't want to know.
MSM has been inflated by the those sympathetic to the white supremacists and is run by those serving oligarchs.
musk: BiRtH rAtEs also musk: *annihilates minorities* of a group of irredeemable ghouls, musk is impressively leading the pack
The past 10 years has given every possible flavor of racist, misogynist, xenophobe, homophobe, grifter, charlatan and mountebank, a free pass to surface from their amoral/ immoral swamp.
fun fact: he also used to use the username "TrannyPorn0" on reddit, and wrote exactly the kind of bs racism you'd expect from someone with that username
Wow
Wtf.
Sometimes I think these guys are just mad that futa aren't real and trans women aren't all anime girls with double Ds, and so they are making it everyone else's problem.
I found this Nazis research papers. scholar.google.com/citations?us...
"an opponent of affirmative action" in the words of the Times.
I can’t stomach subscribing anymore — @nytimes.com has become unreadable, a design mess, and the quality of the journalism is rapidly declining. Many of their best writers have been pushed out by what I hear is a tightening regime of excessively controlled editing. It’s sad.
Sheesh
In The Guardian, you can even actually publish the word "fuck"!
CBC too. Adulting.
Imagine my shock that the TERF is also buddy buddy with weird racists
Wow. The NY Times is foregoing no chances. As people go lower, the NY Times continues to go lower. How far it has sunk.
THEY RELIED ON A EUGENICS BRO AS THEIR SOURCE
Nazis
The moment I saw they actually printed his Substack/X username I just knew his given name would be found in fairly short order.
Oh
Must have shopped this a few places before the Times bit.
“I don’t think anybody could have predicted..."
Hahah that was a satisfying conclusion after only just clicking on this now
Does the NYT and other legacy media really think Trump et al aren't going to start directly harassing reporters, even the "good" reporters with lawsuits, threats of jail, kidnapping, beatings, etc if they don't like what they write? Being "above it all" at this point is impossible. Pick a side, NYT.
they dont care, the owners of these bussiness will be ok with having their employees killed as long as they are on the good graces of the admistration
It worked for Jeff Bezos. One of his staff was murdered and he was cutting deals with his murderer only a few years later.
Of course this hack job was put together by some fuckin freak.
If you can't rely on a eugenicist to bring you racial categorisation data, then who can you rely on? That's some top quality """journalism""" from the New York Times, lol.
In case there was my doubt about the white supremacist aspect of project 2025.
Odd on a correction? I’m thinking…low.
Who find the NY Times as actual news, nowadays… honestly?
lol, the top image results for him are from a YouTube video where’s he’s chatting with Hanania. Shocker!
Wow, way to fucking go NYT! I guess Joseph Goebbels was unavailable, but they still scored a good scoop.
The unstated revelation is that they could totally get Trump’s transcripts if they tried
did you actually bother to read the entire story, which after the clickbait headline/lede , done by the editors, has a lot of info ? do you have any clue what a daily newspaper has to do to survive ? narrator: he knows, but won't admit it
Wait, I thought not going to Columbia was good because of the 'concerns' about antisemitism due to the total absence of Jewish people on the upper west side get your story straight NYT
The story is that @nytimes.com carries water for fascists.
it’s what a racist shits out of their head and calls journalism at the NYTimes.
“I was going to vote for Mamdani but after finding out he listed himself as African American in his college application, I’ve changed my mind and decided to vote for the serial sexual harasser.”
White USians don’t understand why the boxes don’t match his identity perfectly. Alien concept.
hese ethnic/race identity questions are so challenging to ppl like Mamdani & me. He IS S. Asian & African. Everyone else thinks that needs to look a certain way. I am 100% Middle Eastern but born in the US. I'm light skinned & most often am confused for southern European...
But I grew up w/a VERY different culture, language & religion what Americans grew up with. I am white according to these checkboxes but I'm no Mary Sue. Not even close. These race/ethnicity questions suck & they should just not exist.
What on earth? He wasn’t even accepted to Columbia!!! This looks exactly like the NYT journalists are carrying water for a highly partisan agenda attempting to gin up “controversies” for a popular Democrat candidate.
It’s job-begging propaganda from a hack journalist appealing for a Goebbels Prize in sucking off Trump
Now, if he were one of those white South Africans who Trump allowed to come here fleeing "persecution", calling himself "African-American" would be just fine.
"academic"... Dude probably wrote his thesis in crayon, and it reads like a manifesto. (Because it is a manifesto.)
It took three whole people to report this?
It’s difficult work maintaining anonymity for a eugenicist source who had already been publicly outed by another major publication in the past sixty days.
As someone who identifies as Middle-Eastern, this was entirely common as a concern and issue even when I was applying for colleges. Anyone who doesn't fit into one of the "acceptable boxes" on the forms is usually left with no good answers. It's really weird for them to focus on this.
breaking news: he's not a nepo baby and we're a bunch of fucking outrageous late 1800s style racists
Bullshit sabotage.
maybe it's a humble brag or a dig, but honestly if this is what comes out of Columbia then, well
I cant find him. Blocked already? Suspended?
anyway I'm blocking this loser and everyone else should too, fuck the new york times
!!
The story is some of the major decision-makers at the Times read Cremieux, who I think is one of those race-science posters on X who cultivates a liberal audience.
That's...that's literally just true?
impossible to say, need to wait until curtis yarvin hacks into bowdoin
They’re trying for another “Elizabeth ‘Pocahontas’ Warren” story.
He went to one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country, but not an Ivy League university. This is significant to the three worst, most insufferable people you know, and that's it.
arguably isnt even significant to anyone who would care about this seeing as he LITERALLY DIDNT GET IN LOL
So where do we find this fragile white man in a red cap?
Apparently the story is the paper of record published FERPA protected data for…reasons?
His explanation was totally coherent.
They’re saying the quiet part out loud. They really think Eric Adams remains qualified to be mayor?
It’s open ended propaganda. Anyone who is looking to be mad at him can find a reason “oh he called himself African-America”. Oh he tried to use quota’s to get ahead of white people” “he’s not Asian”, “Ivy league elitist”. Doesn’t matter if any of it is true or not, truth isn’t the point
So... he checked boxes that accurately reflect his background? I'm so confused.
Boxes that are created largely by white westerners and very incompletely describe our global population and their heritage. So yeah, he checked the most accurate of those boxes. I have myself watched many people hesitating and going back and forth on what box(es) to check for those questions.
Not for college apps specifically, but mostly administering health related surveys or in one case someone setting up a Grindr profile. I also have struggled as an epidemiologist with categorizing people who put some version of “middle eastern” in the “other” text box for race/eth.
And a lot of (white) americans have a very narrow view of “Asian” which is mostly east asian, and they dont see indigenous ppl in russia, or Indian ppl, as “asian” despite them being from Asia!
Heh, I know all of these things, but thank you. ;) I was more commenting on how ignorant the NYT must assume its readers must be if this is the slop they turn out. Sadly, I'm guessing they are correct in their assumption.
Oh yeah, I’m sorry I’m not *telling you* I am agreeing and expanding on what you said!
❤️
Like “yes those boxes are (probably) accurate for him, and also any misfit might be because the boxes are fucking flawed anyway despite being the most accurate option for him to check”
Vs when I lived in Kenya as a kid, “Asian” overwhelmingly meant “of South Asian descent”. “European” meant “white” (which caused some confusion when I moved back to Canada and brought the terminology with me).
(Not really apropos of anything except how random the boxes are)
Yep!!!
Yup, you’re right. Waving hello from Australia. Which is in Asia.
Isnt it in Oceania?
Asia Pacific, in cultural and economic interdependence.
Was typing my reply when I saw this. Yes! It's literally the NYT seeing 100% correct information and then throwing it out as news because they hope somehow it gets people mad at Mamdani through rotten zeitgeist alone.
He’s Indian ethnically and was born and raised in Africa til age 7. Literally both Asian and African American. Not sure what’s so newsworthy about this
If someone is born in Africa, they're African. Like Musk. If someone is born in America, they're American—or they were until this week.
I like how it front loads the outrage-bait, then explains at the end of the story how he is, in fact, an American man of South Asian descent born in Africa.
Man it sure would be awkward for the New York Times if Uganda was in Africa and India was in Asia.
It's textbook smearing by making benign info "seem suspicious" by creative phrasing
That graf you're looking for is probably the 3rd, with is thinly veiled and unsubstantiated accusation that Mamdani owes his academic acceptances to this.
yeah NYT style is too muted for them to actually come out and say the thing they want to say. And he didn't even get in, so
The implication is that he got into Bowdoin because he lied and said he was Black on that application too (but eugenicists didn’t hack into Bowdoin’s archive of college applications yet so they can’t be sure)
You see what I'm saying though right? If this was in Daily Caller or NY Post, they would come out and say this, or interview someone who will say it. This article belongs in a museum because it can't even do the kind of smear work it wants to do
He didn't even go to the fucking University! It's vile.
I had a good friend who was Ugandan Asian. Half the family then moved to the UK, at a difficult time. Figuring out your identity in real life, over time, is personal and far from a tick box activity.
Doesnt need to be a real story, just keep making articles about it and people will think there is.
"Many people are saying..."
Truly don't understand why this guy got anonymity. Makes zero sense from an editorial standpoint.
Crémieux is top notch french racist shit en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cr%C3%A...
Someone has to know who this guy is. He needs doxing asap
I’ve been informed by the comments under mine of the situation, no need to keep chiming in
everybody already knows who he is, that's why the times not naming is ultra gross
Ah I see
It's not a secret, NYT just decided to pretend because it doesn't sound good that their 'source' is like a full-on nazi.
classic
"cremieux," eh?
You mean Jordan Lasker, AKA ‘Cremieux’?
‘an academic’
A disgrace to a proud tradition!
You just have to be "an opponent of affirmative action" for the NYT to usefully conceal your identity for their narrative purpose.
If you all are still reading the @nytimes.com and expecting real journalism, I don’t know what to tell you, other than, WTF is wrong with you?
describing cremieux as an "academic and opponent of affirmative action" jfc
📌
"This Times scoop comes to you from an anonymous source who goes by the handle CumLord1488 on X, a self-styled independent conservative investigator who describes himself as a 'DEI annihilationist' and 'race imperialist'."
Also a half elf fighter mage.
You joke, but that's actually not far off from his reddit username, TrannyPornO
Deep Finger-Down-My-Throat
Once again, my decision to cancel my subscription is affirmed.
What a wimpy scandal - not even in the same orbit as Cuomo's or the current mayor's. Weak sauce.
really incredible to see the NYT one-upping itself over and over again in the fascist ball-gargling competition
"The anonymous source is a friend of the journalist's, and the two met while attending their local Klan chapter."
anyone who's a close personal friend of a NYT editor presumably
at least one neo-nazi on the editorial board
times proving they want to be this era's der stürmer yet again
Eff the NYT
Why did the Times agree to withhold his name?
Funny how these wannabe patriarchs are the sort of guys no woman in her right mind would allow anywhere near her.
“an academic” sure he is
I love–hate that the Times keeps justifying my decision to cancel my subscription/divest.
KEY WORDS. OPPONANT of Affirmative action
His name is Barrest Jeffries. They picked him up twice for cooking up methamphetamine.
Lol, this is the same guy who killed one of the stats twitter group chats because he's a eugenisist and people didn't want to be in a group chat with someone who could harm their careers/reputations (rightly so).
I work with student data, and woah, this is a major breach.
It's particularly bonkers, because it is already well-known that this "anonymous" academic is Jordan Lasker. And yet, the Times is perfectly happy to pretend that he's still anonymous, simply because he's an odious racist and self-proclaimed eugenicist. Another great job by the Paper of Record.
The irony of getting to be an anonymous source when you are sharing hacked data that violates the privacy of others.
In 2016, hacked info from the Clinton campaign was heavily reported. In 2024, it was wrong to report on hacked info about Trump's campaign. In 2025, hacked information about Mamdani is being reported on. NYT and other media organizations are not objective and they love Trump.
Until he sends their asses to alligator Alcatraz when they piss him off. Fucking idiots. It's just going to fuel the populist movement. They have no idea what's coming.
Oh wow, the “scientific racist” is also a huge piece of shit in other ways.
Who could have guessed such a thing?
Right? Quelle surprise.
How big is his SM following vs the Times readership?
If he was born in Africa, he's African.
If you’re not willing to go on record then it’s not worth the paper it’s printed on
Thinking this asshole totally wrote this piece after seeing the eugenicist posting this on x...and if that's the case it would make me very suspicious of the beliefs of the writer as well
isn't their policy that they supposed to justify each use of anonymous sources? because all the Trump people whined about anonymous sources inside the admin for 4 years? but no need for that here I guess, the dignity of eugenicists is too precious?
Just a reminder, the Times received some materials hacked from Trumpworld last year. I'm sure they're still working on that story.
Just unbelievable, watching in real-time venerable academic institutions & legacy news org fold themselves into the US Stasi Network. Like, we are living a series on the History channel.
The New York Times has always been worthless toilet paper.
This is amazing
Eugenist source and NYT really just doing the Peter Griffin skin color meme.
Like the laptop? Like the diary? Like the ...., not the primary target? Coincidences? Hacking....? Stealing...? Targeted intelligence gathering and leaking....? Then creating narrative... Laptop repair man, left behind in a friend's cabin. Suddenly, at the opportune time, a leak, a target.
curiouser and curiouser
phew thank god that racist is allowed to anonymous. Who knows what could happen to him.
The source was identified by the Guardian a few months ago! Absolute lazy journalism lol. The link to the article is in the comments above, but here’s a screenshot:
The Times agreed to withhold his real name on the account it would make our institution look undeniably racist.
The fact that he has named himself after Adolphe Crémieux makes his politics pretty damn clear.
Why? Cremieux was an eugenist as well?
He *is* those things... I'm so confused.
“Crémieux on Substack and X. He provided the data under condition of anonymity” So this dude out people, but once to be anonymous. Sure that seems fair.
I understand the need to protect anonymity, but "opponent of affirmative action" is utterly inadequate as a description of Lasker's agenda.
Clarence Thomas?
His name is Jordan Lasker, and it's barely a secret
literally not a secret, has run in the papers
wow
incredible to label someone an “academic” under a pseudonym
Even more incredible to label someone who espouses eugenics an “academic”
But he "writes often about IQ and race" as if that's just something people do while also opposing affirmative action, which they put into this article in such a casual way.
The NYT can anonymously interview Satan next.
isn't that a FERPA violation?
And who's damaged by such use.
