what if instead of being the world's tiniest lil army - while literally surrounded by treaty allies - you leaned into what makes you really good (e.g. ships, radars, battle management software)? stop buying f-35s (you can't afford them and also the US owns that software so...) and build this stuff!

F35s are pretty vital for the kinds of capabilities you’d need to augment a missile frigate tho, but mostly agree with the rest. Sadly tho the bet on NATOs viability might not be the best bet atm.

Maybe if it fragments into blocs and they can form the new Kalmar Union they’ll be fine. But otherwise yes buy ships, buy planes, buy GBAD, you don’t need tanks or artillery if you’re in an alliance with Poland/Sweden/Finland

oh totes, except for that thing where if i were a European NATO country, I wouldn't want to rely on US made equipment any more than I would want to rely on the old Soviet SAMs
