Australian football clubs aren’t owned by billionaires, they’re almost exclusively membership based. I believe the Suns are owned by the AFL itself; not sure what the Tassie plan was for ownership/control.

Even so the AFL is a business and has plenty of cash. So somebody is getting a tax payer funded subsidy. And if I was a Tasmanian I would ask why this is the red line. Looks like extortion.

The AFL doesn’t need a team in Tasmania and Tasmania doesn’t want a new stadium so the matter is as good as over.
