I think a lot of it was just folks making stuff for the internet that didn't cleanly fit into traditional categories and were looking for a blanket term, but felt art seemed kind of a pretentious term for their lifestyle blogging/ game tierlist video exploits.

Mostly trying to somehow make a living in late stage capitalism. But yeah.

"content" is just so thoroughly devoid of meaning that i use it sarcastically whenever i flush the toilet. because content is content. *nod*
