One of my close friends just texted me that he had a stroke. He says he’s ok just that he will need to be in rehab for a week. He doesn’t live in California anymore, so I can’t easily see him or help him out, but he’s been a close friend for close to 15 years. I’m pretty shaken up.

That’s a good idea. He said that he’ll give my number to his husband so that we can communicate in the meantime. I’ll see about having something delivered to them.

One thing I learned after a friend had a stroke is that many “friends” disappear. It seems they can’t deal with infirmity. DONT BE THAT PERSON! Stay in touch. Maintain contact. Every text or phone call matters. You can still be there for him even if you’re hundreds of miles away.
