okay so: it is canonically impossible to see a tentpole movie in Atlanta anywhere near opening week and not experience five to seven discrete pockets of hollering; this CAN be additive but I've had bad auditory processing since I was a kid and can't tune out ambient noise to save my life HOWEVER

I will forgive the guy bellowing at the screen throughout the movie tonight, I will forgive him just about anything, because the first thing he said, in reaction to Superman's first entrance, which is very dramatic and is followed by a hush of silence, was: "OH SHIT IT'S SUPERMAN"

I love this being a regular thing for you. The only time I’ve experienced this was seeing the 1989 Batman in a Tulsa theater and the entire audience gave a hooting/hollering/fist pumping standing ovation the first time the Batmobile was on screen.

RIP the movie theatre in union station in DC back in the day, the perfect interactive movie experience. the beloved saw the matrix there. during the big neo/trinity scene, a young man stood up and screamed "YOOOOOO that [soft-a n-word] bout to get him some ASSSSSSSSSSSS!" it was immaculate.

Yeah, I was, uh, removed from the theatre by a friend during that scene. I had just been dumped by my first serious GF, wasn't doing too well with that and, uh, was not ready for some "redemptive power of love" nonsense ruung an otherwise decent sci-fi flick.

At a screening of “The Shawshank Redemption” (spoiler alert?) a woman was truly unprepared for the reveal of Andy’s escape tunnel, and began hollering “He DIGGED a HOLE! HE DIGGED A HOLE!” My whole family still says this at every possible gardening opportunity.

Midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, old Union Station movie theater (RIP). At the pivotal moment when all seems lost, then Dumbledore appears, from the back of the (mostly quiet) theater: “AWWWWWW SHIT! DUMBLEDO’!” Genuinely the best part of the whole movie.
