I mean, at least faculty get annual COL increases built into their contract. Staff and Administration get...whatever the state feels like letting us have if/when they get around to it someday. Also senior admin/exec positions come exclusively from tenured faculty so...yeah...you're fine.

I don't get annual COL increases.

Ha. Sorry. Merit raises? My experience has been that the only way faculty get any kind of pay increase is if its specifically included in collective bargaining (those state COLs happen every so often, it was 6 years for us not that long ago. Merit increases seem to be a myth in may orgs).

But...stipends for extra work, teaching overloads, summers, releases for research/writing, add'l money for Chair, a career ladder that goes to Provost (non-tenured faculty are excluded from almost all senior exec jobs, even those that have nothing to do with academics directly).

Yeah, we don't have collective bargaining either. Merit raises are hit or miss, year-to-year, seemingly at the whim of the institution. And, annual salary increases are similarly year-to-year and entirely dependent on the legislature.
