Is this something unique to the University of Chicago? Like, financial pressures solely created by poor planning or decision-making? Our daughter is just beginning a master's program (not at UC), so hearing about collapsing liberal arts programs, even at elite institutions, is unnerving.

It's really worrisome, especially when you consider people now discounting the value of a bachelor's degree alone. What are people doing to propel themselves in their careers, if not getting bachelor's and then master's and then Ph.D degrees?
