It's weird how many different places speak English, and how different that language can be because of it. UK - the boot. US - the Trunk. Also, if you try to take the elevator across the pond, you are directed to the lift. I guess we're just raised differently.

Given the variation, my wife thought Korea called the storage in the rear of the car "The Hold." When I asked her why, the key fob for my Hyundai is labelled "HOLD." Not because it's for the hold, but because you have to hold it down to open the trunk.
