Agreed, but I think only 20% of hate comes from that. I'm convinced that the other 80% is misguided macho bullshit perpetuated by a society mostly run by weak men posing as tough guys; & tough guys don't kiss other tough guys, or so they think – they wouldn't know different, they're not tough guys.
I watched teen boys torture themselves and each other with fears of “gayness”! That BS came from adults in their lives, including male teachers. Religion excuse is just that, an excuse!

As a straight man, I can tell you that for us, the thought of intimacy with other men is so repulsive and gross that no religion is needed to make us feel disgusted. It's physiological response, not in our control.
However, we understand nature, and accept that we are made by the same makers the gays. I think the issue is not that we hate gays, but in the West someone thought it was wise to rub it on our faces 24/7.
Homosexuality exists in non-Western world, and Muslim world as well, but there is no rubbing on the faces and there is no "hate". The homosexual may be a bit feminine, but everyone accepts it because that person is someone's child, brother,
cousin, neighbor, or whatever. With that said, one should be thankful to the Christians for their toleration of the 24/7 face rubbing of homosexuality, because there is no toleration for it in Islam for example.

Today's republicans are not the 1990's republicans. Millions of Democrats have switched their votes to Republican for a variety of reasons. They are more tolerant of homosexuals than Islam will ever be. What I don't understand is why there is an alliance between the militant Islam, and the Left?
Listen to this Texas Imam who calls for execution of gays & beheading. The Left should have an alliance with ex-Muslims/secular Muslims who feel about Islam like the Left does toward Christianity.
this is also why nonreligious republicans are so strongly pro life: although for that issue you actually can make a very credible case for opposing abortion without invoking christianity, that's usually not what it is (often it's some andrew tate argument about punishing promiscuous women)
