Enrique Tarrio was leader of the Proud Boys. Lots of those white supremacist organizations will absolutely take you if you're willing to accept the supremacy of whatever their euphemism for it is. They called it 'western chauvinism' when he joined. Eventually everybody ends up against the wall.
Apologies, I guess I take it for granted that people are aware of how these orgs work. They very much need and welcome false legitimacy that comes from having members of groups they marginalize who are willing to defend their ideologies. It's an old historical component of this kind of extremism.
When those people get drawn in they often put them in prominent positions in order to show audiences who need evidence to levy against their critics (undecideds) that they aren't what they're accused of being. Eventually those symbolic members are removed. Historic example: the Sturmabteilung.
