Who carries any cash anymore? I cannot think of any legal reason to do so nowadays, and 3 grand? Can anyone say 8 balls?

I carry cash to buy food (at street vendors or drive-throughs) and to tip with. And out of habit. $3000 is a weird amount, though. Way too much for any conceivable casual use, not enough to be a meaningful bribe. But on the other hand we only have her word it was $3000.

There will be a record of Noem's withdrawal. There won't be a record of her cash spending up until the time she said her purse was stolen. If she says the purse was stolen before she could spend, that is at odds with her intention to use cash for all kinds of everything.

I don't know what sort of record there will be. I don't think you can get $3000 out of an ATM (isn't there a limit?), and I don't know where the cash came from. Although if she's talking about it, it probably either wasn't super shady, or else she's come up with a remotely plausible explanation.
