I played cards against humanity with a bunch of Germans last night, and had to explain what a lamprey was, and how one coming up one's toilet and attaching itself to one's taint was bad. (Also what a taint was)

And now you’ve introduced the word ‘lamprey’ to this American. Never played that, btw. Sounds fun. And a good ice breaker. Maybe we should get all the world leaders together for a game.
Dying to know the context in which this came up
It was a card
I missed the Cards Against Humanity part. Makes perfect sense now.
This is fantastic. A truly educational experience for them, I’m sure
I think my English is pretty decent for a German. But I will now go and google what a lamprey and a taint are… hope I won’t regret it…
Oh you will.
Yes, I am better informed now and have learned things that I really didn’t need to know. 😖
English is my first language. I wouldn't have known either of those words either. I do now :)
American English. 😂
Me too! 🤷♀️🤯
The first time I encountered "taint" was very perplexing to me too. Lamprey on the other hand, I knew from some nature documentary.
