I didnt like the book, the netflix film was okay. It had a glossy cast, a great location but it was a bit contrived and "easy". It'll fill a couple of hours without you having to think much.

Good information. I was only tempted to watch because of the cast. I didn’t like the book, it felt like I was reading midsomer murders. And I don’t have either the time nor the inclination to do that.
Looks like proper "grey pound" fodder. They're always as you describe; low key, fancy location, better Brit cast than it perhaps deserves and based on a true story and/or a Tesco bestseller (Calendar Girls, Best Exotic Marigold, the singing fishermen one, the Michael Caine war veteran one etc etc)
It's Midsummer with Hollywood cast basically.
