Why would a cult make up a story about a guy, whose conception origin is similar to other gods, and then use his tragic death to make the people they don’t like look bad? I’ll have to think about it more 🤔

Except the story is written to make Pilate look ok within the boundaries of him still killing Jesus. That would either suggest convoluted real circumstances or as Lindsay suggests deliberate attempts to fudge real events for the purpose of pleasing authorities. Or both.
