Do you understand that 'war' is being used as shorthand here? Otherwise we could argue all day whether people are suffering due to war, civil war, genocide, terrorism, armed cultists, violent bigots, institutional homophobia, transphobia and misogyny, an attempt at colonisation, or something else?
