No the birth rate is falling by 25%. We used to say it was an average of 2.5 kids in a family. A 25% drop from 2.5 is 0.625%. So it's now closer to 2.4. Which is still greater than 1 child per adult even factoring in child free people.

Yeah, late night post, glass of wine. I see my mistake, I was trying to make it only 25% of the previous generation, and getting it clearly wrong. The ratio you describe is much more in line what what I see around me. Thanks for a clear answer to a dopey post.
