Yesterday when I got home from work Jolene , my barred rock hen, wasn’t there. She didn’t come home from wherever she was to roost. She wasn’t out on the patio this morning with the other ladies. I’ve been preparing myself for this since I decided to let them free range; it still hurts though.

Everything likes to eat chicken. We had a fox sighting early this morning before the chickens were let out. They are out now. I'm a bit nervous.

I walked the street and the perimeter, no feathery evidence. Nine of the neighbors have seen her but we back to a state park so I’m betting she got lost in the woods and became dinner or got swooped up by a big sky bird 🦅
Hope she returns home. It's agonizing not knowing. 🙏
