my husband said he went out a few times this summer to try to unblock the stream that comes off a pond about a half mile behind our house and today discovered it wasn’t the natural flow of debris clogging it up but BEAVERS

so we went down there again this evening and i swear to you this is a beaver. it did the tail slap thing! the pond is v high and algae covered now without the outflow

If the pond starts to get too large there are gadgets called beaver deceivers that can be installed to help maintain the pond at a desired level without alerting the beavers that there’s a leak. If they hear running water they’ll try to block it off - the deceivers drain some water w/o making sound.

the pond is quite a bit higher than it was, but it’s county-owned land so it’s someone else’s decision/problem
