This is great and all, but 35k is an average premier league football attendance every single Saturday during the season here in the UK. It's just 1.2% of the city's population. Your uprising is going to need to be much much bigger.

It’s not a sporting event dude. Get a grip
No it's not, dude, it's the future of your country.
Yes but the comparison is irrelevant. Compare to political rallies not sporting events
Why is it helpful to harsh on people who did get out yesterday? It has to start somewhere and with some people. Thanks to all who are making the effort (some of whom have been working tirelessly for years to resist MAGA and Trump)
36k for f****n politicians? I'd rather say that the impotence of the situation makes it MORE impressive. Lots of disgruntled and frustrated people there.
In transit challenged LA, 36k is impressive. You are comparing a sport with billions of pounds of infrastructure enabling attendance to a one-off event in a park. It was 82 degrees in direct sunlight, with no seating. Thousands couldn’t even see the stage but stayed. Save your pessimism
35k doing anything political on a spring day in a non-election year, in a historically apolitical country, is already big. Can it get even bigger? Yes, and I expect it will. #Resist and #BePositive.
We managed this in mid winter. Many other towns and cities saw massive demos on the same day. Honestly, I think the turnout for Sanders and Harris was fantastic. But after 4 months, this should be huge and happening almost constantly. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023...
you dont know la i was from there this is HUGE and there were ongoing protests all last weekend across a massive country
also the venue was at capacity it looks like people were overflowing into the streets shut up you muppet
also bernie made a surprise cochella appearance www.yahoo.com/news/bernie-...
You do you, my silly muppet friend! 🤪
Again, you don’t know LA. It’s physically impossible to assemble 1.5 million people in one place here. There is no equivalent to London in the US. Not even NYC has the train capacity. We have to do politics differently
Most Americans are too busy working to protest, but give Trump’s 10% global tariff some time to destroy their jobs. Then I think they’ll turn out in larger numbers, and they’ll be angry, too. 😡
By then it will be too late, if it isn’t already.
how come nobody in England is out in the street over Keir Starmer’s right wing immigration policies and instead they’re watching Man U? Is the whole country a pile of irredeemable cunts?
Like… this is currently happening right now under Labour: the government intervening in the private medical decisions of people. Where are the protests? www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/04...
It’s all relative. 35k in LA equals 3 Million in Paris.
That 35k represents a much wider audience. The same is also true of mass protests and gatherings like this. Million man marchs also get ignored. The consistency is more important. Not one large one off.
Considering how much the average person cares about sports instead of politics that doesn't seem so bad.
I wish there was a dislike button on bluesky
@bsky.app please add a edit and dislike feature. ASAP. I was looking for this comment though. There will always be someone saying, "it isn't enough."
Oh but there is a block button! So you don’t have to see their crazy posts! Also so they can remain with a lone account, all to themselves when you add bot alert!
Mute button works :)
I am VERY tired of lookie loos going THAT'S NOT BIG ENOUGH well, neither are you. we had 5.2 million in total last Saturday. there is another everywhere-protest planned next Saturday. but I mean: then you get "ok it's a protest but what did you DO?"
so you point out the various things the Dems in office are doing, from putting holds on Cabinet nominees to forming shadow cabinets and "war rooms" and being informational to the public on how this shit works "but where are the protests! Get in the street!" fuck off.
we know. We KNOW. If we had been big enough he wouldn't have won in the fucking first place, WOULD HE. well that and massive voter suppression and media tilting toward Trump and absolute FLOODS of dark money including Musk outright flinging $ like a malignant Henry Sugar
OBVIOUSLY it wasn't enough. and then! You get the people who are all like O WELL you had your chance, goodbye America it's all over I really hope you don't find yourself in the same position. It's not like any country's immune, here. then again a lot of Americans singing the same song, so
AND the voter oddities they have documented in the tabulated votes of the swing states.
With all this but especially the Henry Sugar pull.
There’s block!
