What is your source? This is just a picture of a pup without a source. Thank you.

Hunters in S Dakota said they didn't understand what she was doing. Pups that age aren't ready to hunt. Not until they're 3 or 4. I think she was about 14 months. Plus the dog wasn't in a crate in her truck. That's why she got out and chased chickens. Totally irresponsible and unsafe for everyone.

So my puppy wasn't house trained for 6 months. I did NOT shoot her! I guess Noem doesn't understand that prey drive thingy!

Puppy house training reminds you why getting older dogs is not a bad idea. I got my last puppy a few years ago and wow. I forgot how hard that is.

I got my last puppy 6 years ago. She has to sniff every blade of grass before she goes pee. And she won't pee if it's raining. She's part Newfoundland!!!

How sweet. She must be very sensitive. My boy hates water and the rain. He loves to sniff flowers and will steal cucumbers. Especially, fresh ones.

She doesn't understand you've got to train your dog thing. I make sure mine can't get out of the car or crate if I step out or they're on a leash. She was embarrassed twice and shot it. Then bragged about it in a book.

I can't see how ANYONE would think that shooting a dog is a good thing!

The ONLY time you do that is if you're in the middle of nowhere and the dog gets severely injured!

And that's ONLY to put the animal out of its misery.

Every time she’s told this story, she’s completely emotionless. The woman is a psychopath.

So, killed for being a puppy. Noem should be in jail.

They said they might take a dog that was ready out with older dogs but at least 2. It was chasing chickens because she wasn't crated. That's on her. It sounds like she was embarrassed by the pup's behavior and took that out on her. So we add narcissistic to sociopath. It was probably legal in SD.

If you can do that to a pup. It doesn't take much more to pretend migrants are criminals. Send them to a concentration camp and get pics posing in front of their cells.

Yes, a complete sociopathic idiot. That report was from NPR. The hunters also said no one they know shoots their dogs.

And it's only legal to shoot them in hot blood. She broke the law.

She was only allowed to shoot a dog that chased livestock *while* it was chasing livestock... while the rancher's livelihood was in danger.

That would be a justifiable law. In CO and a lot of states, you can shoot them for coming on your property in areas where you can use a gun. I thought the NPR report I heard this from said it was legal. But I'm not sure of that.

Most states want hot pursuit, because they want you to rehome a livestock killer. Though I've *never* heard of a car being prosecuted, I've also never heard of anyone else who shot a dog for chasing chickens, especially with none dead. And I've been in livestock or livestock-adjacent all my life.

I looked up her state when it hit the news, though, and it was *not* a righteous kill.

Definitely not. The hunters in the story said they used vets for their dogs. They didn't discuss wayward dogs. Likely because they knew how to train them.
