Any mail? Like, no letters? No aerogrammes? (are they still a thing?)

The USPS stopped selling aerogrammes in 2006 when the stock ran out. When I was a kid it was a great day when my mom received one in the mail from her family in England.

We lived in England for two years when I was a kid so I got a lot of them.

I lived overseas for a year when I was in my 20s and my mom kept all that I sent to her. Reading them now is really a strange feeling.

I bet just packages. That’s what other countries are doing. There, also, express services that ordinarily collect customs are still operating.

Is there a reason for this? I don’t understand

Those services are not set up to collect customs on all packages. It’s going to require big changes to do so. DHL Express, FedEx, and other (relatively) lower volume/high cost parcel carriers are set up to do so.

It’s packages of merchandise because Trump eliminated the tariff exemption for shipments of $800 or less. To be frank, the total absence of any context or detail in this post leaving people to think it might include letters and postcards kind of irks me.
