Agreed it will definitely take a multi-pronged approach solution. Limiting the spread is one aspect which sensible requirements and rules would allow if people actually were objective about the approach. Solving the presence of existing guns is much more difficult. There won’t be one solution

but probably many required from incentives, to destroying them when they are used in crimes, to taking them from some people who shouldn’t have them in the first place. There is no reason that smart people can’t agree on a way to do this that honors the 2nd Amendment and achieves the end goal

It’s definitely the case that because we are a sound byte society the case is made that only two ends exist. Either we take away all guns or we let anyone have them. If society really wanted a solution there would have to be an understanding that not everyone is going to get what they want.
