People freak out every time that Tony doesn't fully announce matches before a show...and he always kills it. I don't know why people continue to doubt. - Also, surprise matches are so much better for fans.

honestly my opinion is then leave it as a surprise instead of announcing the matches within 2 hours of the show starting. the actual surprise of not knowing who's coming out next is way cooler than just seeing a card as you enter the building or start the show.

I reject the notion that we need a full list of matches on the show + the order they will be in. - Sure, it helps hype some times...but also, watch the show because you want to watch the show...not because you're guaranteed the exact card you would personally book. TK's last minute matches rule.

Also, the last minute additions very much feel like "who needs a spot that hasn't got one?"...and then just assuring that as many people get pushed as possible. It feels like good-boss shit.

i love the feeling of the dark matches before the show when you have no idea who's coming out. its fun as fuck. id be totally ok with the majority of a full show being like that besides a few matches to sell the event.

People dunk on the Fed for their "the brand is the star" mentality, but Tony Khan really has turned the AEW and ROH brands into marketing hooks in their own right--you know you will get excellent wrestling every time out no matter who is (or isn't) announced for the card. That pumps me up as a fan.

100% - And if anything happens to a planned match...you know you're getting some obscure legend or other bizzare signing to fill in. - It's almost more fun when things don't go to plan.

Podcast brains have told people how shows are “supposed to be booked and promoted” and freak out when AEWROH doesn’t do it their way, but then when WWE does the opposite they’re silent

While they've sold out the residency (so attendance isn't an issue), viewership can be. This is the first Saturday of the college football season and they've got a shitload of competition (not to mention the last weekend of summer). That's why.

I don't get the sense Tony is overly moved by what competitors are doing or seasonal trends. He's just going to execute according to his vision year-round and let the viewership find him. Seems to be working.

Competition is competition, which means ANYTHING on TV. It's the last weekend of summer, and the start of college football season. Give people a reason to watch and they will. There are about 250-300,000 of us sicko that will watch anything. But give thousands more a reason, too.

You could fuck with the way he operates his model around the margins and optimize it, but it seems to be doing well enough and it works just fine for me as a fan. I don't need him to change a thing.

Collision can do some better in viewership. Just announce the matches...that's all.

I think Collision underperforms because there is a portion of fans who have (erroneously) decided that there is an "A show" and a "B show"...also, it's Saturday, and people are doing social events. I don't think the lull is any deeper than that.

Collision needs more star power. That’s a huge factor. TK needs to start making people work some Saturdays.

Meh...I can't really agree there. I've seen just as many bangers on Collision as Dynamite.

The matches are good, but there’s a definite and noticeable lack of importance in terms of furthering stories. It didn’t get the reputation of being skippable out of nowhere.

Pick some names and tell me they should work Collision. I guarantee they have in the past few months.

It got the reputation of being "skippable" after Punk left, because half of the audience expected it to be his show...and they reacted with nuclear meltdown when he got fired. That's all it is. - Otherwise...it's a fan mentality issue. WWE made people just assume there is an A and B show.
