You’re absolutely right, but this is a terrible infographic. $19 does not equal 0%.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Four reviews…. That could be higher….
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Quite the watch, and hits so many nails. UK media, you could do this too…. We’re done waiting.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
All I really asking for is a better coms team that can promote the incremental positives, while the bigger changes are in progress. I’d rather move slowly than pinball between radicals. Even if radical change is needed.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
I still agree with your main point. But it doesn’t change mine. Some good stuff IS there, and compared to what could be (see USA), lots of good stuff. We need to promote that too to keep public opinion moving in the right direction.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
I agree. And I’ve lots more I’m critical of too. But let’s not obscure the actual good stuff. It’s there too.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
No return of sure start centres. No criminal sanctions for water bosses. No increase online protection. Etc. The good stuff (slow to deliver) wouldn’t be there. Starmer wouldn’t have gotten rid of anyone disagreeing or falling foul of rules, he’d be excusing infighting. Media would be facing bans.

Unfortunately conspiracy theories are more nebulous than that. If a truth becomes unavoidable they simple pivot to a version that disregards it. Rob Brotherton, Suspicious Minds: Why We Believe Conspiracy Theories (noted in the article) has some good explanations of this.

As a physician, I know conversion therapy is dangerous and goes against everything we stand for in healthcare. It's abusive and not grounded in science.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Love your bluntness.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Nope. I gave you evidence. You said it was lies. Try looking for science papers about BNST presenting differently in cis and trans people. Then get back to me.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
All data is lies. All data is lies. They checked. They checked. All data is lies. Bye bye troll.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Cis/trans is measurable in neuroanatomy. An appropriate medical approach doesn’t deny measurable science. It certainly doesn’t reject all data and pretend science is religion. Get a grip.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Thought so. This is not psych care that works. This is conversion therapy. It’s torture and should be illegal. None of this will address gender dysphoria.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
This might accurately describe the increased threat faced by cis women prisoners. Which is serious and larger than I was aware of. But it can’t conclude that trans people are inherently more prone to criminal behaviour without removing the driving factors and the cis predators taking advantage.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Third. It doesn’t separate the false claims or take account of key drivers of criminality that disproportionately affect Trans people. Past abuse, mental health, social stigma, poverty. (This is similar to figures we’ve seen about criminality in black ethnic minority people)
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Secondly the paper lists incentives for prisoners to falsely claim to be trans that do not apply to people outside prison. Therefore we’re likely to see a higher proportion of false claims in prison than outside.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Lower figures are likely just people with GRC or who have medically transitioned, higher figures likely to include people questioning their ID but who are not Trans. The genuine population size is going to be between the two. But where?
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Thanks for this. I’ve a few thoughts. First, you can’t just say the sample group is the population. (That reminded me of my A-Level statistics). What is the population anyway. Last census 48k, your figure 52k, current gov estimate 200k-500k.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
What ‘psych care that works’ are you talking about?
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Remember when you said ‘they walk the earth like lions and fear no one.’ Now you’re showing me evidence they get scammed, have worse mental health, lose jobs and end up on the street where it’s dangerous. And suffer from high rate of IPV. Seems like there’s lots to be afraid of then doesn’t it?
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Greatest? Where’d you get that from? Please reassure me you’re not now making light of IPV after talking about protecting people.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Brain scans for structure are usually considered to be around 70-75% accurate. Like I said we need to work on it.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
No one harasses trans people in LA so UK court data is lying? Gotcha… makes sense.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
No, it includes verbal abuse, threatening behaviour, physical and sexual assault. Yes, I know the figs on murder. Trans people are relatively safe from murder in UK. However the figs for abuse in the home are roughly 2.5 times higher for trans people than women, which is about twice that for men.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
I’m not aware that such data exists as to be certain we’d need to measure, which we’re not doing.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
You can’t think of anything an XY trans woman would be fearful of? www.cps.gov.uk/crime-info/h...
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Nothing unethical about considering future medical needs based on current medical data. I meant to say cis predators claiming to be trans. This is thought to be the case with several of the people you mentioned, and is the case with Marla Svenja Liebich in Germany at the moment.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes, and cis/trans is physical, it’s measurable in neuroanatomy and to a lesser degree in neurochemistry. If the tech were readily available it could certainly be used to identify cis predators.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Sorry, nope. You’re failing to include gender as a function of the brain. I’m saying our gender has more to do with defining us than our sex characteristics, not that it is separate.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
I will give it a look.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
As I said it is currently ending well for hearing impaired children. Also cataract, congenital heart condition, congenital hyperthyroidism, undescended testes, sickle cell disease, cystic fibrosis… there’s more. I’d like to keep doing this. Helpful to prepare families for future medical needs.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Do you a source for offending rates? All I’m seeing is studies with very small sample sizes. Most seem to suggest TW offend more than CW but significantly less than CM
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
So you’ve decided that your body defines who you are not your brain, and then offered criminal behaviour as evidence. Wouldn’t that be about the brain? (And to a small degree hormones)
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes it would be brilliant to be able to test people as they’re born and set a medical program in place for people who need it before they know they need it. Like we already do with hearing. It’s one of many reasons we should invest more in understanding neuroanatomy and in developing scanning tech.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes. Cis-trans is measurable in neuroanatomy. But do ask your question about co-morbidities in reference to living people. Did AI write your reply, cos I reckon you could’ve done better by thinking about it.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Firstly it means cis-trans is measurable in neuroanatomy, not a delusion, pretending, wardrobe, or predatory. Do we agree so far?
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Cis and trans people present differently in the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis, also in somatostatins. Agree/disagree.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
I think we’re agreed on legal decisions should independent of finance. My second point is cis-trans conversations need to include neuroanatomy if they’re to include our current and best understanding of science.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Assumed…..?
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
I stated that science was irrelevant to whether it’s harassment or not. And that neuroanatomy is relevant to understanding cis and trans people. I made two independent statements, not one conflated statement.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
(Side note: science doesn’t prove, it provides evidence. You’re thinking of maths)
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Sophie Molly’s case is about harassment. I don’t think harassment or not harassment is determined by the plaintiffs biology, but by the accused actions. And, yes science rocks! We should absolutely be having a conversation about neuroanatomy right now. Let me know if you’re up for it.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Before we get too distracted, I’m saying that finance should be roughly balanced in legal cases. You shouldn’t be able to buy the legal result you want. Let me know if you agree.
Pseudo Bambi (@pseudo-bambi.bsky.social) reply parent
Wouldn’t it be nice if science swings it, instead of unfounded fears and anti science sound bites?
