My hot take about "Bluesky isn't decentralized" is that saying there's "thousands of PDSes" is *technically* true but making it look much better than it really is, and that Mastodon people actually have a lot of point in that specific point that only a very small % of users are self hosted right now
yeah not arguing there, the PDS model with full portability and standard formats is 100% better than how activitypub is rn but when ~everyone is relying on bluesky pbc infra, realistically we'd be screwed if it disappeared overnight. but if mastodon.social died it wouldn't impact me much at all.
which doesn't help much when 99.9% of the network just vanished
