Sounds like the attorney came in with a list of names to ask about. Wouldn't those be people Trump deems enemies? So it would be democrats and those who has thwarted or embarrassed him. Probably people who were also involved.

Also, my aunt would never have qualified as a reasonable person. Her unreasonable nonsense used to relate to schedules, how to plan a wedding, responsibilities, medicine, and decor. But Maga says she's right about all those, even as she changes half through,

I'm following research on helping cult members. So I hadn't been discussing those beliefs. Just staying on okay terms. A respected researcher had new advice, so I plan to use it first chance I get. The researcher says the recent stuff will create a 'crack in the brainwashing'.

Not each and every prosecutor, no. That's a minority of them. Most are prepared to quit if they're ordered to do one of those. Why do you think so many have quit? There have been departments where the order went attorney to attorney as each one resisted, then resigned.
Raeyin Embers (@raeyin.bsky.social) reply parent
I think you're right. We've been making ad hominem judgements without realizing. I feel better once I remember that truth is truth and lies are lies. That's independent of the one who makes the statement.

I didn't go look at the more recent one. I did wade through comments on the Jesus one. No, they weren't trying to 'own the libs'. They were fawning. It was really sad.
Raeyin Embers (@raeyin.bsky.social) reply parent
Quite a number of people thought that while we were watching 'lies', they were watching 'the real story'. If it weren't so dangerous, it would be tragically sad.
Raeyin Embers (@raeyin.bsky.social) reply parent
Google has a lot more on us than search history. When we agree to their terms, we let them use insane amounts. If I leave certain settings, they can use the info of my favorite stores, my YouTube viewing, some social media exchanges. Under the last set of terms I read, they can use my email!
Raeyin Embers (@raeyin.bsky.social) reply parent
They have been getting through several court cases with the "reasonable person" standard. They assert that no reasonable person would believe anything they said. The courts often agree. If the Dominion case had gone to trial, I expect they would have tried to sell that to a jury.
Raeyin Embers (@raeyin.bsky.social) reply parent
Weren't they busy showing cherry-picked clips of J6? They've done a few rounds of that. I thought one of them was timed to compete with the hearings.
Raeyin Embers (@raeyin.bsky.social) reply parent
I guarantee I haven't read everything on the web. I don't expect my crazy aunt to see it all, either. She sees what Google shows her, and Google wants ad revenue. If she gets all conspiracy-ish, they get more screen time. That goes for every crazy aunt and everyone else in the Maga-sphere.
Raeyin Embers (@raeyin.bsky.social) reply parent
What are we basing this on? I keep hearing people say it on social media, but their only support is that information is available. No discussion of environment, what information individuals were working with, how much each person was able to apply critical thinking.

If you look Maga from that angle, it's much worse. The golden statue of Trump has been at CPAC for the last 4 years. The prayer pic was faked, but the real videos aren't much better. I often hear him called a savior. He sold overpriced bibles bound with political material.
Raeyin Embers (@raeyin.bsky.social) reply parent
They did one in Idaho, where I am familiar with the people and culture. Trump won Idaho by 36 points. Most of it is so conservative, I can't even explain. The arena they used was full to capacity. It would be hard to find that many Progressives in the entire state. Those were former Trump voters.
Raeyin Embers (@raeyin.bsky.social) reply parent
The establishment Democrats don't know how. You know about the Fighting Oligarchy Tour that Bernie and AOC did this year? They spent most of their time in red districts, yet their events were packed. They talked about topics like oligarchy, corporate lobbying, and Medicare for all.
Raeyin Embers (@raeyin.bsky.social) reply parent
Most of them never watched The Apprentice. It's sources like Fox, NewsMax, even Google. Did you know search engines give them different results?

Raeyin Embers (@raeyin.bsky.social) reply parent
They really have no clue. When you hear about 'information silos', they mean this. We're in a different information silo. We get the basic facts of reality right, but we see the opponents as having made an informed decision. Turns out, they believed a con man.
Raeyin Embers (@raeyin.bsky.social) reply parent
Google shows you what you want to see. Major search engines all do that. MAGA people don't get the same search results as you and me. We're all in information silos. That's why it's so hard to believe that anyone could believe all that nonsense. We have zero exposure to their sources.

You aren't up on their conspiracy theories? They don't expect Trump to be on them. They think this list is composed of all the Democratic politicians and other powerful 'leftist' figures. There's more - the theory has been evolving over time. Trump's refusal was like ice-water in the face.

They don't trust Wired. They're quite upset, though, and I expect someone in their circle will look at the metadata.
Raeyin Embers (@raeyin.bsky.social) reply parent
WIRED is being careful not to accuse anyone. So I'll say what they won't. Someone took two clips and told us it's continuous. That's not right. Instead of looking into the discrepancy, investigators are making up stories.
Raeyin Embers (@raeyin.bsky.social) reply parent
Nothing like that has been released or leaked. Two were released. One is supposed to be raw footage, but the metadata shows a lot of editing. It originated as 2 different clips, and we're being told its one continuous video. The info on the metadata is behind a paywall in a WIRED article.
Raeyin Embers (@raeyin.bsky.social)
That about sums it up.
Raeyin Embers (@raeyin.bsky.social) reply parent
People have tons of emotions on this, which is why they care. Leaders who encourage fear are causing people to freeze. Stoic logic would cause them to disengage and tune out. Outrage is more appropriate here. The situation is dangerous, it's horrible, and we need to stand up and ACT!
Raeyin Embers (@raeyin.bsky.social) reply parent
I'll acknowledge you're right about Garland. But several departments or Congress could have done something. FBI can investigate without DOJ prompting them. Congress has power to subpoena those files. That's not interfering; it's their job. I'm glad Biden didn't push them. But others had the right.
