This is the last 2 weeks worth of empty 35mm cans. We have been *busy*

Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
I'm sorry to report this to you but Disney+ is the only one that's learned this :P
Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
My origin story is no longer canon
Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes, I do remember it. And guess what? Having a few quality of life upgrades in a basic piece of software that you don't have to use besides once to set it to your preference (maybe you prefer a different font or have a different use case) doesn't defile the sanctity of Notepad or whatever
Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
What the FUCK
Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
I have to repeat something: we're not talking about defaults here. We're specifically talking about having the option to change your font settings in a text editor. Nobody mentioned OS-wide defaults until you brought it up, and that is a very different conversation.
Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
Sure fine, but even then I wouldn't expect that to affect the behavior of a text editor and to then not be able to override that without going 6 menus deep in one of 3 control panel variants. And hey, Notepad remembers your font settings so just set it once and off you go.
Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
Indeed. And again, in a text editor no less. Yes Notepad is super basic but not being able to set the font there? That'd be absurd. Hell sometimes I use Notepad to leave a note for someone else at work and I'll set the font to max and write in all caps so they don't miss it
Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
Cool. It's also the reality we exist in. I also want to be able to change my settings on a per app basis. Some stuff I use up close to my screen and am fine with small font. Some stuff I use while leaning back in my chair with my feet up on my desk. I don't want to go control panel diving.
Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
That, and apps frequently do all sorts of things they "don't get to" do.
Red (@red64.bsky.social)
I'm changing my notepad font to comic sans. If you came here because you got mad at something I posted, I'm doing this just for you and for every reply I'll choose a worse font.
Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
ok

Tbh the greatest reaction I could ever want from one of my posts is for my friends to find it really really funny
Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
Quite right. I post because it makes me giggle sometimes. That said I don't really want, and am not used to, *An Audience* besides my friends.
Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
God imagine *having to post* because your income or whatever depends on it.
Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
I have a 4k screen and I'd like to set the font size to something readable.

Also I think if I were gonna do film stop motion these days I'd take a page from ILM and use something like a Nikon F3. I can confirm the registration is scarily good based on Tim's Fwhatever he had here. The lenses are cheap and easy. I can easily fit or make a bulk back. Cheap fine grain films too
Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
The biggest issue I see with them is the same issue I have with the early arri cameras and tbh most older cameras. The finder being directly on the back. The SR spoiled me, I can stand over the camera, far more comfortable than behind it.
Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
I gotta see if anyone I know nearby has one I can borrow. The only person I know is in London.
Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah I've been considering a scoopic for a little while, they're really adorable

Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
The only acceptable settings in notepad: word wrap and font settings
Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
Arri is worth it only if you're doing actual professional work and even then not with something ancient. An Arri SR series camera is a 100% pure purpose built device for shooting thousands of feet a day and not exploding and my god they're so good
Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
Then I did this and spent a solid 5 minutes laughing my ass off

She's genuinely finding new ways to be wrong I never thought possible, especially when she started talking about Judaism and Israel. It's wild that someone, in 2025, is inventing new ways to be antisemitic. It's almost impressive.
Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
Self-appointed lolcow? I've honestly never seen anyone be as specifically, hilariously wrong as her, and she does this every time she says something. I kinda wonder if she'll ever stop being able to top herself in dumbfuckery

Also Christopher Lee might have had less kills but was probably one of the closer ones physically, stabbings and such, though we don't really know much of what he got up to in the war.

As I recall he was a loader on the AA guns too so maybe indirectly but he absolutely helped take out at least a few planes I'd think. He wasn't in Europe though, he was in the Pacific

Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
That said, I'm much more of a double 8mm guy anyways, the cameras are WAY more fun and unique, s8 really did kill a lot of the weirdness and innovation, everything became fairly samey after a decade or so
Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
Oh yeah I've never had any problems with the Canon, it's just, y'know, not Quite as pretty as the Nikon :D Technically the Nikon can read higher ISO cartridge notches but realistically this just means it can shoot 500T at box instead of 1/3 of a stop over like the Canon does which is fiiiine :D
Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
Eugh I've had a saved search running for an R10 for *yeaaaars* now. The specs are almost identical to my Canon 1014 so I have no real justification to get one but it's just the coolest s8 camera and would fit nicely next to my Nikkormat EL. They even use the same battery check button!
Red (@red64.bsky.social)
Very bad news (for my wallet), I have been handed a Real Camera again and told I can borrow it whenever. Schemes are already underway involving various people I want to point it at.

Red (@red64.bsky.social) reply parent
Ooooo now that's nice That said, it gives me an idea, colour coded cans like the old Ilford canisters where the cap matched the colour of the film, would be extremely pretty :D
Red (@red64.bsky.social)
Astonishingly niche thing but my god thank you @wittnercinetec.bsky.social for having these nice double 8 cans with the screw top and knurling, I hate having to sit in the dark with a tiny screwdriver and try to pry open foma cans and usually stab myself somehow
