I say “do both”. Provide social services, housing, and financial support. The only time “brute force” should come into play is when they are unsafe to people and themselves.

Personally, I think we can acknowledge that homelessness is not good for the homeless. I don’t think anything should be destroyed, of course, but I do believe we should have robust social services & housing for these folks. No one should have to live this way.

To me, the Harris, Walz, and Newsom trolling are all pretty sim. It’s rules up MAGA, but it ultimately doesn’t get us anywhere. It’s not changing minds. I don’t think Newsom will get far with this strategy, just lots of press for a moment.
