I can highly recommend that place..paid a visit to it while staying in Dawlish last year some of the stuff they sell there is dangerously potent but bloody lovely
Also not forgetting Ye olde cider bar in newton abbott too..well worth checking out if you're a cider fan

I know people who are like that too..to be fair it's only fairly recently I got into cask beer..I always used to drink strongbow and then a friend introduced me to real cider and then I started getting into craft beer from there but I always gravitate towards the darker beers these days
I honestly believe that the only reason Guinness is so popular is due the huge marketing budget and the popularity among the so called influencers..it's a mediocre beer at best. Although it's nice to see stout having a resurgence in recent years.

I completely agree about York…a beautiful city with some excellent pubs but the amount of tourists as you say makes the pubs lack the local feel to them…it seems to have become a Harry Potter theme park in recent years
