Traditional media are struggling to stay in business. They’re being bought up by super-rich who want a means of propaganda. They’re less interested in employing unbiased journalists, and more in people who will get their message out.

If it were me, I’d be looking to paint random crosswalks all over the city in LGBTQ colours. With a bit of organisation, you could have them dancing all over the city trying to stop you. Finish with one outside DeSantis’s mansion 😂

Interested to hear what legal people think of this. I assume UK regulators merely apply the UK law to products and services made available in the UK. Which makes me think they can probably smile sweetly and remind the US court about jurisdiction. @davidallengreen.bsky.social ??

From experience: the harder you push them the shorter and less informative their answers become. The fundamental issue is that they own their complaints process, and have no skin in the game. The senior execs (who all seem to be right wing appointees) just don’t care what we think.

I fear the UK media has been reduced to a small cadre that simply stoke division to generate clicks. True journalism involving facts and analysis, let alone investigative journalism, seems to be falling by the wayside. Unless it involves small boats it barely seems to get a glance at the moment. ☹️

Richard Appleby (@rmappleby.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes, agree with both of those. Central govt should do what it’s good at (big centralised national things) and local govt should do the local things that are important to their local population. And central govt needs to fund local govt properly and then largely get out of the way.
