Proud, active uncle here. The job of the uncle is to love and support nieces and nephews, not discipline. Any corrections should be done quietly, well after the fact. I have a couple nieces whose lifestyles I don’t agree with, but I hold my tongue because correcting them is not my job.
I have such great vines in my backyard. Idiot neighbor made 2 fences (3 in some places) which allow vines to grow in the sun all day. I cut the traveler vines so the bushes remain short. At the end of the season I slide my machete down the fence and trim them back.
