"The people of Gaza are suffering food-insecurity" vs "Gazans are starving to death." The second sentence has more urgency. Sanitized "inclusive" language, while well-meaning, can obscure the severity of an issue and distance the public from those affected.
Yes Mamdani and Platner are the solution. But they are simply returning us to the rational center where FDR had positioned the Democratic Party. We only call their politics "left wing populism" because Bill Clinton and his successors triangulated the party so far to the right.

Just tried watching Ezra Klein’s latest NYT podcast episode on how the U.S. got to this point where vaccines are so politicized. It’s pretty clear that Klein and his guests—David Wallace Wells and Rachael Bedard—really do not understand why/how the political right turned on vaccines.

The logo design didn't infuriate customers. It infuriated right wing monetizers of grievance hungry for grist for their content mills and their very online partisans. Companies change their logos all the time. Customers HATE it. But they adjust in a week. No one ever boycotted a company over a logo.
Republicans might want to look up the history of California Governor Pete Wilson's anti-immigrant Prop 187 in 1994. It was mean-spirited in just this way, even barring immigrant kids from enrolling in school. It's regarded as a key factor in turning California from solidly red to reliably blue.
