the main problem I find when cycle touring camping here and elsewhere now is the size of vehicles around me. I always feel ultra vulnerable at night and try to put the bikes around as a form of barrier.

The outcome will be interesting. Presumably the Officer should be charged. We just had a member of the public charged with attempted murder for driving at a police officer who was a pedestrian at the time - appropriate. But that standard should be applied for the public

Reality is that the Province is woefully behind, in many cases by 50 years or so (e.g. speed cameras) on road safety practices that actually reduce fatalities, following the systemic approach to road safety - embedded in Vision Zero.
