Yes, exactly. Intellectual loneliness isn’t about “deep talks,” it’s noticing how rare it is to find people who sit with complexity instead of running off. Once your brain expands, small talk doesn’t just bore; it isolates. I’m not hunting for geniuses, just fellow wanderers still willing to think.
On the random occasion when someone blocks me, I often wonder what I said that led to that action. Not because I care mind you, but so I can start saying more of it to perpetuate the “self weeding,” of my little garden of absurdity. 😋🤷🏻♂️✌️

It is never too late. Yes, some people will argue about the “return on investment,” and whether the effort is worth it. But for me, it’s not about that. It’s about growth, pride, joy, the deep satisfaction of doing something I once thought was impossible.
The classes I’m teaching today, I once sat in those same seats not so long ago, a later in life student with plenty of self-doubt. I was in my 40s when I really started pursuing higher education, asking myself: Has the time passed for me? It hadn’t. And it hasn’t for you either.
…I think it will guarantee me a bigger paycheck. I’m doing it for me. I’m teaching and working in a non-profit environment to give back and because these are goals I never thought I could accomplish. Who the hell wants to hear from me? The high school drop out with the MBA… and yet, here I am.
Life is a series of memories, and it’s our job to make them. Now, I’m not saying toss responsibility out the window. I work a full time job. I teach part time. I’m back in school finishing my second masters degree. But here’s the thing, I’m not doing it because someone told me to, or because…
…and saying “no” when your body tells you it needs rest. That extra two hours you think you have to work to get the promotion? It’s not worth it. Use that time doing something you love, because those are the hours you’ll remember.
That extra project, that late night, that endless climb to the next rung on the ladder, none of it matters the way we think it does. What does matter? Spending time with the people you love. Taking the walk. Reading the book. Saying “yes” when someone asks if you want to grab coffee…
But here’s the strange thing—coming that close to the end has a way of reshaping the beginning, middle, and everything in between. In the last four years, I’ve come to the conclusion that all the things we think are a big deal… really aren’t.
