Those poor kids must be terrified.
Climate, international shitshow, human & environmental rights & whatever interests me. Irish, she/her. Mostly harmless but inclined to bite or at least relentlessly mock bigots. Irrational fear of harmonicas. Figuring out new place.

Those poor kids must be terrified.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
Looks like both.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah, that one confused me too. It does not seem the act of an entirely sane man to need to have his national flag permanently behind him when sitting. Just..why? Is he worried he'll forget what country he's in?
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
Lol, beaten to the joke by an hour.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
Well, he presumably wouldn't be sitting at the time as that would make things logistically difficult.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
You are a bloody danger.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
We had six centuries or so of the plague running wild and still ended up with RFK Jr existing so I think we can call that experiment a failure.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social)
I'd like to make a snarky comment but honestly what is there to say
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
She gave birth - it was picked up because the "parents" didn't get the poor child any medical help during it.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
Ugh, fkn thought it would be when that case popped up previously. It was..statistically not unlikely, especially with the no medical help added in. I hoped it wasn't the case though. >.<
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
...I have an inbuilt mild distrust of anyone who flies their national flag at home. Or pins it to the wall, whatever he's doing. It suggests levels of insecurity (or geographical uncertainty) that is just a bit unnerving.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
AI plagiarism machines, founded in theft of the work of real humans, for the purpose of removing human work to continue to concentrate wealth upwards, are makers of incredibly expensive slop. On the surface it seems free because the costs are socialised in the massive use of electricity and water.

A little while ago, my parents' cat Bridget went missing. As the weeks dragged on, they became extremely worried. My dad devised a way to distract himself: he began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up in some of art and music's most iconic scenes.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
Hm, it wasn't that article I read originally, which did put more of it down to campaigning. But yeah, this one does lean more heavily to the point that the problem's really only moved.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
The amount of grown adults that do this with balls, drumsticks, hats etc thrown into crowds if a kid (or sometimes just "someone smaller") gets it. It's just very "and you're proud of that, are you?"
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
The more the WH and his truthiness account tries to convince us he's all good, the less convinced I am.

Reminded of being called "very feminine in your conflict address", which I believe (blocked the idiot so can't check) was to do with thinking genocide is a bad thing.

That he invented tikka masala so he in some way doesn't count - although he also managed to insinuate the position that someone arguing with him was lying about their nationality and ethnicity. And that Bangladeshis only moved to Britain because of the famine. He's a whole font of bad takes.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
And that The Pogues switched to "cheap and you're haggard" in 1992 and yet The Discourse is annual tradition. They pointed out that the characters are supposed to be unlovable but the enthusiasm which people wanted to sing it was weird. (Fairytale of NY)
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
He's still going. Fighting for his life, but he is not giving up, no matter how many brown people he has to call liars.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
Hs argument for that is that he's probably lying.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
The only reason you think this isn't all wildly racist is that you haven't managed to get the concept of brown and black Brits through your skull yet. Once you've stopped insisting that only whites are British, you might have a "😬😳" realisation, possibly around 3AM.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
Ran all this past an Indian friend (with zero British connections) and he's mocking this guy thoroughly. He's also mocking tikka masala in general. Obviously a British nationalist. 😆
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
I'm running this guy's arguments past an Indian (Indian-Indian) friend and the results are exactly what you'd expect there too. 😆 I just passed on that he's obviously a British nationalist, according to random white American.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
At this point you're just doing "Brits can't be brown", but leftistly.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
I've been noticing seasonal shift where I live for the past few years too. Every seasonal indicator has moved back by around a month plus added instability. Midge clouds on Christmas day, daffs in late December and ofc the constant "earliest", "strongest", "unprecedented" storms etc.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
Obviously if you were in the military, orgasmic rapture at your first serial killing is not only normal but part of the moral relativism of liberalism; checkmate, "lumpen protalitariat".
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
I saw this about an hour ago and I'm still mulling timespans per labrador lifetimes. I have a dose of mild plague so my brain is wandering off on tangents about labrador crossbreed lifespans for precision dating.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
That is far too succinct and weirdly coherent for a start. And he doesn't do "President DJT", he likes to see his first and last name after President (J is fair enough)
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
On the one hand, fair point, on the other, I wouldn't get your hopes up - every other time they have gotten world-class treatment, they take it as their due and go back to ensuring the undeserving masses do not. (The trans immigrants prob got arrested by ICE.)

If you say 'heteronormative' or 'unhoused person' or 'food insecurity' you're basically talking gibberish and nobody can understand you but if you say you can see inflammation in children at the airport and that vaccines lower IQ or that germs are a myth you get to fire all the scientists.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent

Ofc, stereotypes often have kernels of truth and a whole popcorn of falsehoods that get assumed to be the be-all & end-all in the face of all available evidence to the contrary.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
Tbf, both of these things are stereotypes and I think we all know it! Both countries have ranges of high quality produce and cooking styles and ALSO have terrifying stuff that makes foreigners go "...this is food?" and back away slowly.

Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
I blame the parents less than I blame the conspiracy-mongers. At base, (nearly all) parents want what's best for their baby. If they've been told X is *dangerous*, puts their child at risk, their protective instincts still work, but counter-productively.

As much as I hate to not give him discredit, there are a few cases of bubonic a year and no vaccine for it anyway. It's treated by antibiotics, so while obviously one doesn't *want* it, it is astronomically less dangerous than it was back then. Until we get antibiotics resistance ofc.

Probably the biggest single cause of extremism in the Middle East is America repeatedly pillaging it. And enough of the "oh, it's their job to clean up our messes, we'll just keep supplying bombs, lol, what failures they are". 🙄 Bloody Americans and their superiority complex.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
"Ethnically cleanse" is the term, not "relocate". Ofc, in making it almost impossible to leave any, imposing famine and mass murdering civilians, it's also plain genocide.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
No, they just say "I agree completely" to Charlie Kirk on his position on trans people existing and then "how dare you not vote for him, do you want Trump, you hysterical nitwit, no-one wants you dead, lol, purity politics" Oddly, it doesn't seem to be any more convincing.

Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
Adults, the word is adults. You don't need some cutsie disparagement as if adults playing is some shocking new development.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah, I'm not really sure how we've managed to annoy them more than Spain because indeed mostly we're just loud (although wouldn't be surprised if Israeli products don't sell well). I wonder how many small countries would be more effective without the bloody US throwing its weight around though.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
And ofc, arguing to ration medical care by regional voting pattern while a fascist is in office is certainly a choice, but probably not one that will go well for those that didn't vote for the fascist. It's all a bit of a moot point really, the fascist's gov will decide who to sacrifice - everyone.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
What, again?
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
Been seeing this argument a bit recently and apparently it's a case of "yes Timmy, the billionaires always need more, so pay up." There is actually plenty of money, but it's easier to pretend there isn't rather than ask why billionaire wealth doubled over the past 10yrs.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
Hm, an upside then.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
That was a warning, not a promise. The meek get what the arrogant billionaires and the remains of out-of-control capitalism leaves, so climate change, biodiversity collapse, pollution and food and water shortages.

I'd have a suspicion that those kids are being told how they are the next Zuckerbergs and Musks, who must innovate with it and make billions. Vs the other kids who are raised to expect to be the ones being exploited by it. That'd certainly temper enthusiasm.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent

Hellfire is one of the best villain songs Disney made, if not one of the best Disney songs out there. Bells of Notre Dame & God Save The Outcasts were also riveting.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
Pretty much. Spain has probably been the most effective, thanks to a LW gov. Croatia and Belgium have had their moments, I think. Mind you, the US have been busy little bees behind the scenes, leaning on govs to not do X or Y. Hence Ireland's difficulty passing Occupied Territories bill.

One exception- adults who play or watch things for kids and then demand those things to cater to their adult tastes. They're problematic because they're selfish.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
There's nothing more childish than being afraid of play because it doesn't look grown-up enough. That's tween behaviour, and they have an excuse for it! If you're a full-ass adult, people can tell. They're not going to get confused by your playing pokemon go or whatever.
Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent

Temporary Bat (@saredra.bsky.social) reply parent
"Radical centrism" is basically being on a wing (usually far-right to libertarian) while insisting one is far too intelligent to be wildly biased, therefore one's own beliefs must really be centre. The radical bit is just to explain why no-one agrees with him.
