My kids took the bus, but some days I needed to pick them up. I quickly realized that if I arrived 10 minutes after dismissal I would sail through the line. When I passed this tip to another mom, she said “but then they’ll be one of the last kids picked up.” We did not become mom friends.
We can thank union leaders of the late 19th & early 20th century. Folks like Mother Jones who taught hard for workers who had no voice.
When I see the phrase “Hey libs”…I just turn and walk away. Because “owning the libs at all cost” is what got us to the point where our democracy is now circling the drain. It’s the (proverbial) line in the sand for me.

I’ve been to DC a number if times and have walked the streets and parks. It is a city with history. And now I hear that the National Guard folks are making themselves useful picking up trash. Imagine being called away from your day job to just stand around & pick up trash in city parks. Boring 🥱

The NRA buys off Congress. No action on guns. The oil industry buys off Congress. No action on climate. Insurance companies buy off Congress. No action on health care. The list goes on and on. Money in politics is the root of our dysfunction.
This is an authoritarian administration and won’t let someone who disagrees with them stay in leadership positions for long. I’ll make a wild guess that they’ll quickly install someone as CDC director who agrees with them & will do exactly what she refused to do.
Newsom: Perhaps the president could deploy the National Guard in every corner of Mississippi. Murder rate is out of control there. And the governor may want to make that phone call.
I think these are very valid points our governor is making about the murder rates in some of other states that are much, much higher. And if our president is actually concerned and sincere about addressing this violence then he should definitely think about sending the military there. So let’s see.
