When I was in graduate school getting my master's in theatre, a member of my class, frustrated at the rigor of the acting training, burbled "I just wanna be goofy!" I'm pretty certain that this has become the vision statement for most American theater. It's totally committed to stupification.
This is an exercise on imaginative doomsaying. I can imagine a bunch of dystopian scenarios, too. The question is what the purpose is beyond creating additional anxiety.
