The highest levels of the Trump administration are collaborating with the FBI and DOJ to cover-up evidence the President committed sexual crimes against children. Unspeakably corrupt, and not a single Republican in Congress can be expected to speak out against it.
The main problem is that the rulings would likely be sealed bc of grand jury secrecy rules, but (a) there would be leaks and (b) there would be good arguments that the rulings should be partially unsealed so the public can see the legal discussion. There is plenty of precedent for this.
He won't do it, but their case would be strongest if Obama would intervene. He can just say he strongly disagrees with the Supreme Court's immunity ruling, but he has the right to assert non-frivolous defenses on his own behalf and on behalf of his subordinates, so bam:
Two outcomes: 1. Courts deny the immunity assertion, and we get some caselaw that's bad for future Trumpies. 2. Courts approve it, which they would have for the Trumpies anyway, so why not take advantage? In either case, there'd be considerable delay.
Or Obama should intervene to do so. Do I want the case law to extend this far? No. But Trump's minions will certainly try when they are investigated for their illegal actions, so there's no reason not to test it now. If anything, it'd be fun to see how quickly SCOTUS moves to hear these cases.

The SVR has now scoured this report and all the previously-classified details (which include dates, quotes, etc.), and now whatever methods the IC used to collect this information have likely been eliminated. If someone had leaked this info, they'd be in prison for a very long time.
I just dove into the declassified HPSCI report on the 2016 election, and holy cow, publishing this level of detail is one of the most insanely irresponsible things a US official has ever done. Tulsi and Ratcliffe have given a huge gift to Putin, and the SVR in particular.
