It's been like this since slavery. Defending your honor with violence was only done by white men because it wasn't allowed by anyone else. No one else was even legally allowed to defend themselves from attack.

The clearest picture of corporate greed in this country is CEO-to-worker pay ratios. At the 100 lowest-paying major US companies, CEO pay averaged $17.2M in 2024. Median worker pay at these companies was just $35,570. That’s a ratio of 632 to 1. How can anyone defend this?

Meanwhile, today is the 1st day of school. The outtage affects half of my neighborhood, but also 2 other towns. No traffic lights, spoiled food for those without a generator, no AC in 95° weather, and everyone is just like 🤷🏽♀️

Half of my neighborhood has been without electricity since Friday evening - it's now Monday morning. I currently have electricity, but I worry that it could go at any time. The electricity company is like 🤷🏽♀️ it could be this afternoon or it could be Wednesday, they don't know.

What the next election needs is information distribution in language that people understand. Every county, every town, every city. People in the loop know what's at stake. People out of the loop won't realize until it's much too late.

Honestly, there are so many risk factors for cancer that implicate businesses in the US across every sector. It isn't economically viable to try to prevent cancer here. Growing the economy is more important than people's health. (Says the powers that be)

The most amazing person I encountered was a man who was recently freed from a wrongful conviction. He was imprisoned for 47 years! Longer than my whole life! The immensity of that blew me away.

I KNEW I didn't fit, but it was interesting to me that the definition of Blackness was so narrow. It is the opposite of the American one drop rule that encompasses every touch of Blackness.

I know Blackness is different in different places. In Ecuador, only my husband qualified. He touched his arm and put it next to my brown skinned daughter and shook his head, no. She was not the same.

Last week, my family vacationed in Ecuador. While we were driving from waterfalls to volcanoes. We met a parking lot attendant who was so excited to see my husband. A Black tourist was a novelty that he didn't experience frequently.
