There is no such thing as an elective dictatorship. They will simply not give you control of those tools. If they cede you the presidency in an election loss, that will not undo institutional capture. Things will remain legal if a Republican does them and illegal if a Dem does them.
I may not have phrased myself clearly so here goes. It is actually broadly speaking literally impossible to use the same mechanisms that Trump is using to achieve left-wing, Democratic, or even democratic (small d) ends.
