Today really sucked. A 10,000 strong nazi-organised protest took place in my city, I watched people get brutalised, and yet it feels like it's still impolite to bring up with comfortable middle class people at the dinner table. Aussies can be unbelievably self-absorbed at times.
That effect becomes wildly more pronounced when you are outside America but still in a "Western" state. When I was a baby, local bands and music were everywhere. The older I get, the rarer it is. Only American music on the radio, American movies on the streams. Younger friends find local stuff lame

You misunderstand. The data is clear: free markets are a constant slide towards monopoly. Monopoly means wealth inequality, which means upset people, low wages and eventually fascism. You can't just 'opt out' of doing bad, you need to actively be doing good, or else that slide into fascism continues
So I'm seeing more and more concerning news about a new form of "Chat-GPT induced schizophrenia". GPT seems to be uniquely adapted to maladapting brains; in the same way social media use can push non-clinical populations into diagnosable ADHD territory. Research is sorely needed on this subject
