Yeah we have the meat grinders for the auxiliary unstaffed entrances. The normal turnstiles are always staffed. For new stations 60% of entrances need to be accessible so you can only use those if you have at least 3. Check out the new Damen Green Line for the bad consequences of that rule.

I assume it will work like the current (existing) garbage collection tax which is not optional. It’s currently like $10 / mo which is cheaper than apartment dwellers pay private haulers and cheaper than most dense suburbs.

Here's the video Trump just posted to Truth Social, with the claim that 11 people aboard the boat were killed. There is zero evidence of self-defense here. Looks like a massacre of civilians at sea. Even if they had drugs aboard, that's not a capital offense.

I just think this might be a place where what people say and how they behave are very different. Do parents in places with cheap childcare (or universal pre-K) have more kids? My understanding is "no". (I do think we should have free childcare, but I do not think it would affect avg family size!)

Have you seen the situation in Millennium Station in Chicago? The main elevator has been busto for 3+ years so you have to enter through a labyrinth through an adjacent office building for Metra and a separate winding path through a parking garage for South Shore

Chicago's pretty close though. Comes to $34.5k / year income. 1/3 of that (housing budget) is $950 / mo Not a lot of 2br avail for that but a lot of 1br/studios, and also a lot of 2br avail for $1,200.

The four legs of the rube goldberg machine (1. mandatory insurance so low-risk can't opt out 2. no individual risk assessment 3. subsidies 4. minimum coverage) are pretty sound, they are the model used in much of Europe (e.g. Germany)

(A super basic implementation could basically send a DM with the ID of the poll and your vote value to a trusted poll app, and the trusted poll app could just publish the current aggregated results when queried with the poll ID.)

By Sherman Park the rear bus has caught up with the lead bus and they've swapped places (I checked the vehicle numbers). They will now leap-frog each other all the way to the end of the line, leaving a big gap in service behind them. Could this have been avoided by holding the second bus by 6 min?

I just watched these two buses be dispatched 4 mins apart (schedule says every 10m). They've already bunched to 3m apart in the first mile of their run, because the first bus had an 18m gap before it so it is slowed down by picking up lots of ppl. Where's our active dispatch management?
