I invested into Fortune Finder and oh man I wish I did this like 20 hours earlier. With one more rank of Cap Collector, ammo will actually be affordable!
Turns out I need to start a quest to get inside the building for the Charisma Bobblehead, which puts Puppy Time on hold. Guess I'll just keep speccing into more Luck Perks in the meantime.

I don't hoard that much in FO4 so I never noticed that Dogmeat does not count as a "companion", so I keep the Lone Wanderer bonuses when traveling with him. I need to get the Charisma Bobblehead to get Attack Dog ASAP.

Decided to call out a second day in a row due to knee pains. It's around 97ish% gone, but I'd rather get the full day's sick pay than end up coming in for three hours only to hobble into a Lyft/Uber (again).
More like lucked into *saving* a Luck build that I thought I botched, but I lucked out with good Legendary drops and Idiot Savant paying for itself.
Also, it's insane that Idiot Savant can trigger on completing a quest.
Half-considered restarting to respec in Fallout 4, but then I found a Lucky Pistol, a double-barrel shotgun that restores all AP on a kill in VATS, the Luck Bobblehead, and took Four Leaf Clover the next level and Gunslinger after that.

Yep. Investing in 6 Strength for Strong Back wasn't worthwhile, Strength only adds 10 to weight capacity, and there are no Strength requirements for weapons in FO4. It's better to have 260 carry and damage reduction if alone with the option to get a pack mule with a gun.

3 Charisma is enough to get the Lone Wanderer Perk, which increases carry weight by 50 if you a traveling alone.

I pumped Big Guns so I can get better damage rolls and increase the chances of picking up multiple kills when enemies line up, weaken whatever survives enough for my party members to clean up, or to redirect multiple enemies away from my party when they're low on health.
I love to run up to enemies and give them a Bullet Hell Close Combat and doing enough damage to kill them thrice over. Almost as much as I love getting instadeath crits by sniping their eyes with the Gauss Pistol.
Bozar is *the* Big Gun to use, and you can safely ignore investing into the stat for a large chunk of the game since it's not accessible/practical to obtain until much later. It pretty much kills anything at point-blank range and can hit targets behind/in front of whoever is targeted.
Lockpick is weird. It kinda feels like a dump stat candidate, but being able to get through as many locked doors/containers early on is a major boon and while the Electronic lockpick overshadows it later on, deploying it is tedious compared to just being able to use the skill on the field.
Looking back, I should have raised Speech a bit more since Speech checks have a chance to fail so I might've flubbed a couple of them without noticing. 111% certainly gooses they odds in my favor the majority of the time, but it's never guaranteed to pass.
I invested a bit more into Steal just to make robbing my favorite shopkeep a bit easier/less tedious. Threw 25%~ into Traps to speed up a heavily-trapped dungeon area. Pumped Science to get log-in info on the Enclave Oil Rig, and dumped the rest into Energy for funsies.

I started dumping stat points into shit like Science (after hitting the stat cap through Skill Books) and Traps because they made things slightly less irritating for me at a specific moment in the game.
Endgame stat spread. Living Anatomy and Quick Pockets were the other two Perks. Strength is actually 6 but the Power Armor gives you 4+. Yes, 177% Small Guns. I reeeeeally like sniping the eyes for crits, knockdowns, and OHKO chances and hate missing in the dark.
First Aid and Outdoorsman are nice but not at all worth spending skill points on and Science/Repair aren't super relevant until the last third or so of the game when you're just trying to find stats to dump points into so you don't waste them since you can only store a max of 99 Skill Points.
If you are too ashamed to use wikis, then you better break out your note pads. I still very, very much recommend using a build guide since there are two stats that *really* matter, one that's just nice to have above 100%, and like four that you can increase through books that are purchasable.
I must stress that it's very, very much a turn-based RPG. You cannot Diplomacy your way to the credits screen. You cannot "If you east the west how can you west the east" Frank Horrigan.
Finished Fallout 2, and it's insane that this game was made in 1998. Once you get into a groove, this game can be low-key sick. The only real problem is that combat either makes you feel too vulnerable to attack or Doom Guy.
As drunk on imperialism the NCR was in New Vegas, they honestly weren't too much better in FO2. The NCR city might as well be named Copopolois and they're still super pushy about annexing settlements.

Honestly, after playing NV, Fallout is way more cynical about human nature than I remember it being, and given the times we are in right now, it's still not nearly cynical enough. If anything, a character like Aaron Kimball is too horrifyingly realistic.
Pretty much half the main storyline of New Vegas has you running around trying to woo over half a dozen different factions into fighting for you or for someone else and Yes Man gets super passive-aggressive when you burn bridges or get other groups to align against you.
Mind you, the NCR has also been at war with the Brotherhood of Steel while all of this has been going down, years before New Vegas even begins, despite formerly being on such good terms with them that one of the first five states in the NCR was named after BoS's founder Maxson.
Hell, the reason why the Fiends antagonize NCR so much is because the Great Khans give them chems in exchange to do *specifically just that*. Also, isn't it fucked up that the NCR is repeating the same mistakes as the past, giving a bunch of convicts (Powder Gangers) dynamite to do railwork?
The tribes in New Vegas hate House, but also want the NCR gone, which is why the Legion won the ear of the Omertas through bribery and wanted to blackmail the White Gloves into supporting them, as well as aligning with the Khans following the Bitter Springs massacre.
NCR became bad guys in the Mohave due to extorting locals and their massacre at Bitter Springs. Legion is very self-aware that their supply lines depend on local traders and curried their favor.
Given the limitations 1 and 2 had for their time, I think New Vegas is probably the most accurate in-game representation of politics in the series. It's almost never "they're bad because they aren't us!" because the game goes into painstaking detail on how these conflicts came to be.

I feel like New Vegas does this well enough, as well as earlier Fallout games. There are plenty of settlements where people don't have a constant chip on their shoulder, and the only ending where you can get everyone to gang up to beat up another group is when you're w/ NCR fighting Legion.

Now that I got a boomstick, things should go more smoothly and I can actually, like, do things without having to savescum or almost lose a fistfight with a giant rat by missing five times in a row on a "41%" accuracy roll.
It's not even worth speccing into either just for the beginning either since you can talk to a guy and get it raised up to 50 (still has dogshit accuracy on literally everything) and Small Guns are unequivocally better.
I am really not enjoying Fallout 2 at all whatsoever and 90% of it has to do with just how fucking ass Unarmed/Melee is in this game. If you're going to be stuck fighting without guns, could they maybe not force you to heavily invest in two otherwise useless stats to get a hit rate about 30%???
Aaaaaaaand it's still broken. Dead run.

The kicker is that a neutral speed nature Zacian-C outruns a positive speed Mewtwo by one stat point, assuming the same IVs and speed investment. It was never more over for our OG goat.
Mono-Psychic and having functionally no ability SUCKS so hard. It can't even fake a niche in VGC since it's doubles support move pool is almost nonexistent and Calyrex-S is just straight up better despite having fuck-all for coverage.
I miss when Game Freak would invent insane news way to keep Mewtwo relevant every generation. Calm Mind in gen 3, Special Fighting coverage move that never misses in DPP, Psystrike, *two* Megas. They should've kept going and gave it an actual ability.
More importantly, the Genies of Healthy Meta were denied another win.
To be fair, the Fluttermane DID actually win game 3 with that callout that could've easily screwed him.
