You will never get a turkey to vote for xmas. The reason I like the idea of increased % of VAT on luxuries is, I can't tell you what a person is worth ( net worth fluctuates constantly due to shares etc), but the things they buy that we can't have a value which is already taxed, just take more.
You probably like the idea of Universal Basic Income. Me too. The principle of UBI being that means-testing is expensive, get rid of admin, divvy up the cash that was spent counting beans. A wealth tax would be the opposite of that - more money spent chasing money than raising it.
