That is annoying. Is it def trying to grab something from online? Cos even when still installing from disc, PlayStation at least uses the verb downloading which is stupid on their part. If it is from online then that's unacceptable I feel.

Never played more than the Virtuous Mission (picked it up like 10 years ago to complete my collection) but I vaguely remember a lot of ppl praising Subsistence on release for the better camera since the larger environments weren’t suited for the MGS2 camera
I was also amused by how he described regular bread in such a dainty way and the sourdough as this coarse rough and tumble alternative.
Cos that body is extremely unreal (engine 5) lol

Another bonus I never anticipated: One time after a film I was walking about the shops with them still on and suddenly realised I had proper 3D depth perception now lol One of my eyes is much stronger without glasses so my brain mostly favours my left eye & i could never catch anything thrown to me
I always described it as “I can now see HD” lol. I am only a little near-sighted so I can get around fine without but wear them for screens and cinema. Used to think it was just natural that far away things were blurry. Then suddenly I can make out brick textures and read far away signs etc lol
Glad you liked it. It’s always wonderful when I rewatch, they do so much with everything, no scene feels wasted. Like the Nebudcanezzer crew doesn’t have a huge amount of screen time but feel fully fleshed out enough to care for and have faves amongst them.
I really love 4 tho, felt very personal and experimental. The fight choreography is not as good (impacted by having to replace their choreographer due to the pandemic as their original choice was too high risk and had to pull out
I like 2 and 3, but I wish they kept the grunge feel of the original because they feel too glossy/polished in comparison. I do feel 2&3 could be edited into a single 3-hour+ movie and work better than two 2-hour+ films.

Always felt there must have been a draft of the pilot script where she did shoot first at the Klingons during her mutiny and the other writers of the season never got told it was rewritten to have her taken down in like 30 seconds into mutinying before she could do anything
Exactly. She categorically is not responsible for starting it as shown in the opening 2 parter. But I remember getting annoyed at subsequent eps as the writers seemed to think she did start it and I was screaming at my tv “that’s not what happened, watch your own show please!”
Honestly, they fucked over so many by undervaluing the original. Years of “2D games can’t be more than £16 cos Hollow Knight was that!” Some were even arguing that Metroid Dread should have price-matched Hollow Knight
I feel like Sega is forgetting why the various design choices were made when they do revisions on his look I particularly hate how they try to pretend 2D Sonic needs to be cute and mascotty when in the 90s he was a cool badass
I feel that Sonic Adventure got so much right on the first try yet for some reason they've run from it ever since If every level had a second optional act for Sonic to play it would not be far off from the Mega Drive level count

Been dabbling with the PS Plus version this week and I feel the opening area is deceptively fair and as soon as you leave it bullshit starts lol It’s like they went for too much visual fanciness and it can be hard to read the screen cos of twh fake lighting not showing platforms and stuff till near
I played the opening years ago on switch but when I heard everyone say it’s this super long game I decided to put it down until I could properly commit to it.

Well apparently Laura has the same actress from the SH2 remake (something I’ve found fascinating ever since i learned of it) and she was up there with James as best performance in game so theres hope for that character (maybe)

I think in the original they had a super quiet walk mapped to the d-pad in 3. Not sure if they kept it in Delta or just mapped it to stick in some way Heard many ppl back in the day had trouble cos mgs1&2 didn't have this feature and kept getting heard when creeping behind a guy to snap a neck
You might be further in MGS3 than I ever got by now lol always good to see new ppl fall in love with Metal Gear tho
I find the Xbox 360 era holds up less. Watching series retrospectives for long-running games like Silent Hill everything looks fine and then they get to 360 titles and everything looks off cos they are using graphics tech that isn’t ready and no one knows how to use it.

My brain doesn't retain that as it discards disappointment like that once processed. Frustrating cos I'm sure there'd be stories. Tho I'd prob be so picky the worst would be so-so rather than bad like Hook on the Megadrive

Alien Cubed had to create a prison environment where again no weapons to make the alien a concern. On a spaceship, fine, cos hurting them risks a hull breach from acid blood every time but on a populated armed planet the humans are winning even if it’s not flawless victory
Not got around to by the show yet but I've always felt they aren't that dangerous on a planet. ALIENS had to make the cast take stupid pills to make them a threat (putting all the good ammo in a bag that gets destroyed and then the crew of the support caft left its door wide open and unguarded)
Since they put out the originals on modern hardware I'd be fine with remakes to complement them (wish Konami had done it this way for Silent Hill as well)

Oh cool. As said I’m not super familiar with 3 but 1 &2 are amazing and ppl LOVE 3 so you should be in for a good time. Hopefully, if Delta clicks with you you’ll get around to the master collection and play the rest. (Hope they make a second volume so MGS 4 can make it to modern tech)

Not sure if joking, but if not you'll understand fairly early into the game (I've not played much of MGS3 or 5, but have beaten 1, 2, 4 and the spin-off Rising) hope you enjoy

Same, I don't mind options on emulators for ppl to improve things like smooth out poor frame rate or texture warping/polygon jitter (for instance in Silent Hill 1) but I am against removing them from the game in total

In most countries, regular public infrastructure is good enough. Like kids in London get free bus travel and just get on regular buses at 8am to go to school (or they did when I last looked, not actually double-checked to see if 14 years of conservative party held government killed it)
I dabbled with it on NSO last month. It's a bit fiddly on Joy-Cons and I abused rewind but it was interesting. I still need to get back to my save state and finish it

If only they had released Dino Crisis 2 on Dreamcast to sit next to my copy of DC1 I’d have replayed it within the last 25 years. (Also never got parasite Eve in Europe so Square owes us!! If they could release a new PS1 copy with a 50/60hz toggle I’d accept that instead of a remaster lol)

The IOS keyboard used to work well. Nowadays, I fight auto correct and it thinking I hit the letter next to the one I hit
Certainly feels that way. Have had beef with it ever since they had that update years ago that badly auto-corrected earlier words in a sentence based on what you typed at the end, tho they seem to have called that down now. Last week tho, had to retry a few letters due to touch accuracy

Yeah, you can feel when PlayStation transferred headquarters from Japan to the USA as that's when the American version of capitalism really infected them. Before that, they supported Studio Japan to have boutique games in their catalogue to create more overall value for the platform

I've only beaten VIII, X, XIII, XV, XVI, remake and rebirth. Got to the last aesa of vii before Crisis Core came out on PSP, was planning to finish that save this year but my PS2 stopped reading PS1 discs a few months ago. I also got decently far in IX

Half of that is how big games are now. You just don’t have the time for all these 50-100 hot games always dropping compared to the 10-20 hour standards of the PS2 era
It also looks so very nice. Up until Resi the final chapter all the films Anderson directed himself looked very good with relatively limited budgets But yeah compare this to the sequel and you have a textbook case study of caring vs going through the motions
That cast list is so cosy. Nice mix of Battlestar Galactica, True Blood, and Roswell high (plus Jeremy Piven who’s been in a bit of everything lol) (Always surprised me that Ryan Kwanten didn't become a bigger star after True Blood when he stood out quite well in a great cast)

Yup I love some remakes but they do not invalidate the originals as they excel I different areas (I’m so glad ppl can more freely access the original Resident Evils along with their remakes)

Friction especially since often that IS the game design. It irks me when ppl complain when a game fights back against them instead of letting them on the head and feeding their self-esteem.
I only did a few colossi in the remake & it was fine to play but bluepoint really did not understand some of the creative choices. Wander’s face being expressionless is oft cited, but really making the forbidden lands look lush and inviting is the huge mistake to me. It no longer feels forsaken
